Salento, June 1934. A bus stops at the central square of Litsanello, a village with few inhabitants. A couple gets off: the man, Carlo, is a child of the South and is happy to return. Anna, his wife, is from the North. She is beautiful like an ancient Greek statue, but sad and anxious. What life awaits her in this inhospitable land? In the eyes of the villagers, Anna will never cease to be the "foreigner." The one who doesn't go to church, who wears pants and doesn't gossip. Proud and quick-tempered, Anna never adopts the lifestyle of the Southern women. And not only that: she dares to claim a position at the post office and becomes the first female postman in Salento. For more than twenty years, she is the invisible thread that connects the villagers and their stories. Thanks to her work, Anna enters countless families, helping illiterate women communicate with their loved ones or even with their illicit loves. And without intending to, she will change the life of this community forever. This is the story of Anna, a woman who wanted to live her life on her own terms, but also the story of the Greco family and the village of Litsanello, from the 1930s to the 1950s, who will experience a World War, as well as the rise of the feminist movement. But it is also the story of two inseparable brothers who were destined to love the same woman.
