The new conference (November 2023) titled "LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE +20. Education, Research and Applied Work," sharing the same title as the one held in 2005, just two years after the launch of the first Master's in Landscape Architecture in Greece (2003), is honored by 500 participants with 150 announcements, along with invited internationally recognized landscape architects, four exhibitions, posters, and the landscape works of AUTH and IFLA. It serves as a 20-year review of study and actions in the Greek and European space, as well as a springboard for the future for all colleagues, teachers and researchers of landscape architecture, architects, agronomists, foresters, urban planners, civil engineers, artists practicing landscape architecture through their work, graduates of landscape architecture studies and their work, students and their visions.
The uniqueness of the field, the interdisciplinary engagement with the subject, and the diversity of landscape architecture in addressing scale, program, and holistic approach are expressed in vitally important current thematic sections: landscape policy, landscape planning and design, urban, natural, rural, and peri-urban landscape, sustainable and resilient landscapes, territory/region, urban strategies, technical works and landscape, public space, green and blue infrastructures, parks and gardens, historical and cultural landscapes, landscape architecture and education.
We view the landscape as a mirror of society, ecology, and culture, through education, research, and implemented projects, but also as a prism under which one can envision and realize the comprehensive regeneration of spaces of all scales, with increased social, ecological, and cultural value. Just as the first conference (see
Conference Proceedings DPMMS, 2005) opened up prospects for landscape architecture in Greece, we hope the new conference will reflect our commitment to Landscape and its Design in the future, in accordance with internationally undertaken commitments.
