You only pay for the name in the 3440. The handle that holds the filter does not give you the option to use an open basket for better extraction, the steam is not powerful, the Black & Decker that has the same operating system makes much better coffee and strong steam. But still, I am in favor of the Ariel km 501r at 50 euros, whoever has bought it knows, otherwise if you want quality that will reach a professional level, go for a lelit machine.

I prefer that it's not automatic and stops on its own, but I choose when to shut off the water supply, depending on my preferences at that moment. The construction seems average and it's lightweight, which I didn't like when I first held it in my hands, but its functionality convinced me immediately. With the coffee I prefer (personally from Coffee Island), I make better coffee at home than what I get outside. I've had it for 3 years and I am fully satisfied. Especially with the price I see it has now, almost half the price from when I bought it, it's a great opportunity for someone looking to buy. My opinion is only for espresso.

I use a milk frother and the same full milk (family size). With the same technique, sometimes the result is awesome like from a professional machine, other times it's tragic. Daily use at least 2-3 times a day.
Out of all the coffees I have tried, I stick to the blends from coffee island at a 2.5 grind, always in the double dose capacity.
For hot frothy milk, long-lasting 3.5% milk.Before this machine, I had no experience with coffee machines and coffee preparation, but after getting familiar with this specific machine, the result is now extremely professional to the point where it surpasses many coffees I drink outside.
The frothy milk, if you get familiar with it, is very easy with this specific nozzle, creamy and elastic. The coffee has a rich crema and maintains all its flavors and aromas. (I keep it clean after each use and also do a thorough cleaning during the week. It has never produced burnt coffee or milk for me)
It truly is worth dedicating time to learn the machine and experimenting, especially for beginners, with the preparations, and you will never get a bad cup of coffee. I am more than satisfied, I wouldn't change it and I would definitely buy it again!! Especially for its price and the Krups warranty, you choose it without a second thought!

Where you put the coffee is not a single metal but you place - depending on the amount of espresso you want (single or double) - the corresponding metal filter inside the metal holder that you then "screw" onto the device. This metal filter usually sticks to the device when you "unscrew" it to remove the used coffee, and you have to detach it, while usually this metal filter retains water inside it on top of the used coffee, making it difficult to dispose of the used coffee and clean it immediately after use. Sometimes the bottom of this metal filter comes off along with the coffee when you hit it to remove the used coffee. If you have the money for a more expensive device, it's worth the trouble to buy a more expensive one. You get what you pay for.
Edit 27-12-2021: After many months of use, it works perfectly, the coffee is perfect with a lot of foam, and the more I use it, the more I appreciate its coffee. I don't make milk foam, so I don't have an opinion. With at least 3 coffees every day for so many months without any problem, I consider that it is worth its money and more. I reconsider any negative thing I have written, and today I am convinced that I made a very good purchase. So don't rush to express an opinion if you haven't tried it for at least 2-3 months. As time goes by, it makes better and better coffee!

Due to its size, it fits comfortably on the counter and doesn't take up much space.
After 1 year, the coffee is almost as good as the first moment, it still makes excellent foam in the espresso.
I have tried various commercial coffees and it hasn't shown any signs of clogging due to the fine grind.
It heats up incredibly fast.
I have only descaled it twice and the taste of the coffee hasn't changed.
It has never broken or had any plastic parts damaged.
If needed, I will buy it again.However, it has one negative aspect - the water collection tray is small and needs to be emptied after 4-5 coffees, otherwise the counter gets filled with coffee water.
Also, the milk frothing (for my standards) is not one of its strong points.

One year after the last review (2-3 years of use), I can say that the machine still works hard for about 2-3 espressos per day, just like the first moment.
With proper cleaning and descaling at intervals, it continues to give us a decent espresso/cappuccino.
