Description

Laphroaig 10 Years Old is a malt Scotch whisky from the island of Islay in the west of Scotland. During its production, the malted barley is dried over a peat fire. The smoke from this peat, found only on Islay, gives Laphroaig its particularly rich flavor. It is best enjoyed neat or with a little cool water. Its taste envelops your tongue, releasing the spicy, earthy aroma of blue peat smoke, the sweet nutty sensation of barley, and the refined scent of heather from the rivers of Islay.

In an episode of Blacklist, Red pronounced Islay outrageously wrong and expressed a preference for the Scottish Highland because the water "is lay" has a taste full of seaweed and iodine. Many believe it and many disagree. Here, however, the smokiness, saltiness, and iodine are glorified in a whisky that Red would shoot anyone who served it to him. Rarely have the heavy characteristics of Islay been rendered with such intensity and depth. It is somewhat expensive and is for special tastes that - if they get to know it - will not drink any other Scotch afterwards!

One of the finest and heaviest whiskies from Islay. Try it neat, then with a few drops of water, and even with a large ice cube, revealing a unique flavor triptych that will become a resident in your cellar. Each choice will reveal a different but amazing whisky, with its iodine flooding your taste buds and the peat accompanying you on a delightful taste journey to the shores of this distillery. The 10-year-old Laphroaig is one of those whiskies that can reprogram your tastes and combinations. Just like the inhabitants of this Scottish island enjoy it not only neat but also paired with various dishes, dare to try it too! Let the iodine enhance the saltiness of some shellfish, a salmon fillet, swordfish, or even a ribeye steak, and enjoy the peat of Laphroaig elevating the flavor in your palate. Surrender to it, and you will remember how suddenly, next to our own tsipouro and good wines, our Scottish friend suggests an extraordinary drink that will remain unforgettable.

Tobacco, ash, iodine, oak, medicinal. I find the intense smokiness in single malt whiskies to be somewhat overwhelming. I like some smoky cheeses, but not all, and of course, many are not smoky. The same goes for whisky. This falls into the "not" category for me. The sensation doesn't suit me, or rather, it doesn't evoke the same landscape feeling as other whiskies from Islay. If you give it to a friend to smell, they will tell you it smells like betadine.
The price is outrageous, just like many malts in recent years. The market has completely gone out of control in this matter.

I tried it for the first time at a shop today without ever having tried a smoky whiskey before, except for the famous grouse smoked, which I wouldn't say is considered smoky. When I smelled it, I was surprised because I didn't imagine that I would smell such strong smoke, which reminded me of charcoal. I obviously knew what I was getting into. The smoke doesn't let you notice anything else in terms of taste or smell, as it completely dominates. If you don't have experience with smoky flavors, it will definitely surprise you, but it requires getting used to. At this stage, you might prefer something sweeter and more fruity like Balvenie, but I will definitely try other smoky ones. Ardbeg has a range..

I am not a fan of smokers. However, this whiskey has that something different that makes it possibly the best I have ever tasted in a 10-year-old single malt. This is what I almost always drink now, for many years, and even though I try several during the winter, I always come back to this

The description says it all. Smoky is my favorite type of whiskey and this might be my absolute favorite. Smoke, peat, peat, smoke, with a lingering taste... eternal. I don't know what they do over there in Islay, but their whiskies are unmatched. The southern neighborhood along with Lagavulin and Ardbeg is simply the Holy Trinity of smokers. Fans, just hurry up.

A friend brought it to me as a birthday gift... The first time you try it, it doesn't leave a good impression due to its unusual taste. But once you get used to it, you won't want to change it and your non-smoked ones will seem tasteless! It's really nice to have it in the home cellar!

One of my favorite single malt whiskies, extremely smoky with a rich flavor. The aftertaste is what stays in your mouth for several minutes. Definitely not a whisky for beginners or for a first encounter with whisky. On the contrary, those who love smoky whiskies will adore it

One of the best 10 out of 10!! Tobacco with a hint of salt, simply wonderful. It competes with more expensive whiskies and deserves to be voted in the top ten many times. You need to try it if you like tobacco. It's my favorite!

Although I am not a smoker and at the same time, smoking is not my favorite as I prefer milder flavors with fruity, sweet aromas, I can say that this one I enjoyed mildly. It is particularly smoky, without leaving that unpleasant "cigarette" sensation in the aftertaste, which impressed me and helped me consume it easily. It is definitely worth trying, as I consider it a very good and famous representative sample of smoky single malt whiskies.

Very good whiskey, intense taste of iodine and sea smoke! I have also tried the quarter cask, which is equally good! Out of all the ones I have tried, this one and Ardbeg are my personal favorites!

Along with Lagavulin, Talisker, Ardbeg, and other lesser-known bottles, all from the Islay region of Scotland, they belong to the category of "smoky" whiskies. This particular one is one of the most famous, it has a strong/smoky flavor, iodine, salt, and is for those accustomed to the category, so those who have not tried it, be prepared that it may not be to your taste. I believe that it is unjustly rated low, as the uniqueness of the category does not suit everyone. Try the slightly more expensive Quarter Cask, it is clearly more interesting.
