A dragon without a rider is a tragedy. A rider without a dragon is dead.
ARTICLE ONE, SECTION ONE, THE RIDERS' CODE
"Is there anyone else who wants to change their mind?" Zayden shouts, looking at the other cadets with the same malicious look that the blue dragon behind him has. "No? Perfect. About half of you will be dead by next summer."
Everyone in formation is silent, and only some muffled sobs can be heard to my left.
"One third of you will be dead by the second year and just as many by the third. Here, no one cares who your mom or dad is. Even King Tauri's second son died during the Selection. So tell me again: Do you feel invincible now that you've managed to reach the Riders' Quadrant? Do you feel indestructible? Do you feel elite?"
No one cheers now.
Another hot wave hits me, this time straight in the face, and I tense up entirely at the cremation that awaits me.
But it's not flames… it's just steam that blows back Rhiannon's braids as the dragons exhale simultaneously.
The pants of the first-year in front of me blacken, the color spreading down his legs.
They want us to be afraid of them. They succeeded. "Because to them, you are neither indestructible nor anything special."
Zayden points to the blue dragon and leans forward a bit, looking us in the eyes as if he wants to tell us a secret. "To them, you are just prey."
Discover the brutal and elite world of the military school for dragon riders in Rebecca Yarros' best-selling book.
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail would normally enter the Scribes' Quadrant and live a quiet life with her books. Now, the commanding general – and her hard-hearted mother – has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates who yearn to become the elite of Navarre… after first becoming dragon riders. But because she is the smallest of all and her body is fragile, death seems just a breath away… Firstly, because dragons do not bond with "fragile" people. Instead, they cremate them. Secondly, because the other candidate riders want to kill Violet. Since the dragons willing to bond are fewer than the cadets, most candidates see Violet's death as increasing their own chances.
Many, however, want to kill her simply because she is her mother's daughter – like Zayden Ryerson, the most powerful and ruthless wing leader in the Riders' Quadrant. Violet will need every drop of her wit to see the next sunrise. However, with each passing day, the war outside grows fiercer, the magical chambers of the kingdom weaken, and the dead continue to rise. And the worst part? Violet begins to suspect that the leaders are hiding a terrible secret.
Friends, enemies, lovers. Everyone at Basgaith Military School has an agenda – because once you enter, there are only two ways to leave: either graduate or die.

Fairy tales are always enchanting, both for children and for adults. !!! It reads easily and quickly.
More interesting book the 2nd of the series than the first. And still, in my opinion, it is inferior to the expectations and the rave reviews I read to generally get it. Pleasant fantasy story with more adventure and plot in the second book. Unfortunately for me, the part of the description of the sexual scenes with every unnecessary detail remains, which of course makes the book unsuitable for younger ages. That's it, I hope you enjoy it
It keeps the reader's interest, easy to read, not some impressive story in my opinion as I would expect from a fantasy book with dragons, a fantastic world, etc. Something I didn't like is that the protagonist gets so caught up and so intensely in her feelings for another person, so often, so intensely, and with such a way of expression that it becomes tiring. Also, in personal moments, words and descriptions are used that I wouldn't expect in a fantasy book but in adult books, so I recommend caution regarding the ages to whom the book will be given. That's it, I hope I helped with a general picture and that you enjoy it.
It is the second book of the series.... It is much better than the first, the plot doesn't have any dull moments, it has much more action than the first, more battles, more twists.... You don't want to stop reading it. The universe created by the author is really good. We are looking forward to the third book in 2025
The book is very nice, the world created by the author is very beautiful and interesting. It has elements of battles, strategy, secrets, and magic. It has several action scenes and some twists that you can't expect. The only negative thing is that from a certain point onwards, it introduces a romantic story in the book and it slows down a bit because of it, but towards the end, it becomes very interesting and something unexpected happens. There is another book and another one that I read will be released in 2025.... That's it
Great book with an incredibly good plot... In the beginning, it puts you a little in the mood, resulting in the book progressing a bit slowly, but once you get into the plot you will read it in one go... The only negative thing I find is the translation and syntax, and some words are strange, but this is obvious since it is translated into Greek from another language. I would recommend it to those who enjoy reading in English without a second thought. Now we are waiting for the series to come out!
Perfect book, I can't wait to read the second part. Dynamic characters, nice world building.
Simply glued to it. Fantasy lovers won't be able to put it down. But even those who haven't read books with dragons, battles, and magic before, it's a good book to start with
For those in love with fantasy books, The Wednesday Wing is unbeatable. I loved it tremendously. I couldn't put it down, and finished it in 4 days. Now I'm reading the second book in the series, "Iron Flame". Equally fantastically interesting. Read the amazing author Rebecca Giarros.
It's simply a gem... the book is beautifully designed on the outside, but the maps inside are unreadable with colors (you don't need to strain your eyes to understand where you are). There are some spelling and grammatical mistakes... anyway. Very nice story and it keeps your interest until the very last moment.
I liked it a lot! I have already recommended it to my best friend and we are discussing it!
And this edition is incredible, very impressive!
I don't want to say much about the plot because I might spoil something! But it really is worth it... magic, dragons, secrets, loves..!
There are no words to express myself, just read it if you like fantasy... it has everything love, intrigue, a deadly school and basically it has DRAGONS?
