A fantastic little gadget, I have always been a fan of Philips' ambilight but not of its picture in recent years, so I was looking for an alternative solution. I have been following Govee's patent for years, and this year it was time to acquire it. For a better acquaintance with the product, you can watch the hundreds of videos available on the internet about it, and they all have only positive comments. I should mention something that I knew from the beginning as a detail that it wouldn't work correctly in my case and it might help some. For the system to work perfectly, the TV must be wall-mounted and very close to the wall, and the wall must be white or generally some very light color because if the LED projects, for example, a yellow color from the screen and the wall is, let's say, blue, the result will be green, as you can understand. Also, if, as in my case, the TV is a few centimeters away from the wall (corner furniture), when the LEDs play different colors by a few centimeters, the result on the back wall will be a color combination of those due to the distance, like in the above example. Even though I knew that the system wouldn't work 100% correctly in my setup, I bought it and I am very satisfied since it works perfectly as a backlight that adapts to the general colors of the screen and also relaxes the eyes in a dark environment. So final comment, while I knew from my research that the product wouldn't work perfectly for me without it being at fault, it deserves 5 stars since under the right placement conditions, it is incredibly impressive.
I got it from the company's website on Black Friday, for €58 for a 55" TV. Although I had a bit of trouble with the calibration, the result impressed me! The app has a lot of options! For movies and gaming, it's definitely worth it....
It has very strong brightness compared to the cheap ones, the delay it has in reading the image is very small; when I watch TV, I don't notice it. It has many settings in the app depending on what you want to do. The color accuracy is not good, and I searched and tried everything. The camera sees approximately in the center of the screen; I would say it captures about 65 to 70 percent at most. Overall, I am satisfied; it was worth the money
The effect it creates is very nice and gives a 3D feel. I highly recommend it to those who want to enhance their movie viewing experience as well as gaming without seeking perfection. However, if you are one of those who want the color to be exactly what the TV shows at the exact moment it shows it with instantaneous response times, you might want to look for something else (sync box). For everyone else, enjoy your viewing!
The review is written for a 50 inch television. Yes, I know it wouldn't fit in size, but I preferred to make a workaround rather than change the television. So at first, it was tested to be placed on the television directly with wave patterns (in the questions that the kids asked below in the reviews, I have a photo), but I didn't like the aesthetic result, so I decided to make a frame that aesthetically matches the television and has the correct dimensions both for the tape (around) and for the height of the camera. The result is absolutely satisfactory for me. The lights illuminate very satisfactorily and strongly despite my fear, because on the television the LED strips project outward and diffuse the light better, which satisfies me incredibly. Now regarding the product, it is an incredible addition especially for movies. It is what you expect, especially for the price you get it for. It has an app that allows you to adjust almost everything from the response whether you're playing a game or watching a movie to music mode and many other features.... As for the negatives, I would only mention that sometimes the colors are not authentic, meaning it cannot accurately depict color mixes, which I believe is due to having one camera instead of two like the more expensive series, but okay, and there is a half-second delay in the display (you have to look very closely to notice it). Overall, it is a very aesthetically pleasing addition to the viewing experience and is worth it due to its low cost.
