With a foundation in basic Ancient Greek vocabulary, this book proposes a modern educational intervention, which, taking into account contemporary scientific data from Applied Linguistics and the school reality, can contribute to students' understanding of Ancient Greek discourse.
The 1,100 most frequent words included in the proposed basic Ancient Greek vocabulary are not static elements, but functional and essential, which within the framework of the language system, with the reception of their various meanings by students, lead both to the understanding of their relationships with Modern Greek and to the understanding of texts from the original.
