[...] Yes, this is what Takis Tloupas was searching for with his camera, to find the truth, which often passes by us unnoticed. He saw it. Wherever he was, he saw it. He was an infallible hunter of "truth." He knew where to find it, how to approach it, and without it noticing him, he would "snap" a photo of it. And when I talk about "truths," I don't mean the "truth of the word" as the hymn says. Takis hunted and photographed the "truths" of life, which he found in nature, in human faces, tired and joyful, curious and pained. And in those faces, he had a way of transcending shapes and flesh to capture the intangible. I will say something that may seem strange: Tloupas, from a pained face, did not photograph the face but the pain. Just as from a tree cut and burned by lightning, he captured the lightning, and that is what he photographed. The one we didn't see. But he didn't search for "truths" only in faces. He looked for and found them everywhere: in flowers, rivers, and lakes, in sunsets, in the storks of the plains, in houses and streets. He searched for and found them in markets, bazaars, celebrations, and funerals, in harvesting, in olive presses and mills, in stables and fields. [...]
