In the case of the gifted Thessalian photographer, the devoted Larissa native, the struggle of man is conveyed through the continuous confrontation of the anxiety for survival with the formidable difficulties presented by the control of the land, even in areas where the fertility of the soil promises a favorable outcome in advance. A fertility, however, ensured less by the water of the rich plain and more by the sweat of exhausting labor. The beauty of the furrowed faces, the strength of the trained hands, the solidarity of a community unscathed by the divisive distinctions of male and female, the endurance of a consciousness fixed on the demand for the absolutely essential, the sufficiency of an ethos untouched by the expectation of the superfluous. That is why the figures he captures seem to move on the steps of a scale of heroic proportions, while the accompanying presence of the environment reveals the health of a different kind of relationship with nature, inconceivable for the artificial and prefabricated ecological sensitivities of our days.
