The Dark Terror is the first high gain head from the Terror series by Orange, offering a full-bodied distortion tone, ideal for hard rock guitarists seeking the unique Orange distortion sound in a portable size.
It features 15 or 7 Watts output options, as well as a valve buffered effects loop. The tube preamp and the shape control potentiometer further enhance its performance. The shape control shapes the sound into a modern or vintage aesthetic, depending on the direction it is turned.
With the increase of the Gain control, the sound becomes increasingly "aggressive".
Specifications are collected from official manufacturer websites. Please verify the specifications before proceeding with your final purchase. If you notice any problem you can report it here.
The head is excellent. It produces perfect and powerful sound with very nice bass, and with the shape button, you can easily adjust the levels on the equalizer and achieve any sound you want. It has a wide range of distortion, but it doesn't lack the clean sound which, with the right settings, is enjoyable.
Combined with a cabinet equipped with Celestion Vintage 30s, you can play rock music and its alternatives (rock 'n' roll, blues, hard rock, metal) very accurately. You can even adjust the amplifier for AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Deep Purple, Elvis Presley, and many more!
The price is a bit high, but it's worth the money in any case! I highly recommend it for those who will use it at home, in the studio, or for band rehearsals, and as soon as I use it in a concert, I will update the review accordingly.
Update: For a medium-sized concert, the head is very good. Don't forget that sound adjustments can also be made from the control (if an increase in volume is needed). Now, for something big where you'll need to have the volume lever at maximum, I think it will lose a lot, the sound will distort.
