DISCOVER NEW WAYS OF CREATIVITY
Smart Dual Pixel AF system
Track people, animals, and objects, even when they are momentarily obscured from view. The Action Priority mode identifies the subject in certain sports and adjusts the AF area accordingly.
Advanced 45-megapixel multi-layer image sensor
The next-generation full-frame back-illuminated multi-layer CMOS sensor combines impressive resolution and dynamic range with incredible speed and video capabilities.
8K 60p RAW Video
Elevate your cinematography projects with Light RAW, for 8K 60p 12-bit recording using the full-width sensor of the camera.
Eye Control AF System
The Eye Control AF system, appearing for the first time in the EOS R5 Mark II, is now more accurate and reliable. It can precisely determine where you are looking and move the active AF point accordingly. Work intuitively and keep your focus steadily on the subject.
High ISO sensitivity transforms work in low-light conditions
The maximum ISO sensitivity of 51,200 (expandable up to 102,400) is supported by in-camera Neural Network noise reduction, for cleaner jpeg images with more details.
Customizable continuous shooting up to 30fps
Adjust the continuous shooting speed of the EOS R5 Mark II in small increments, capturing 45-megapixel images up to 30 times per second – a combination of speed and resolution that reveals the fluidity of every movement in rapidly changing scenes.
Speed and precision
Freeze moments in time with a top electronic shutter speed of 1/32,000 sec. and record 4K video at up to 120p, including sound. The fast information readout of the EOS R5 Mark II sensor minimizes rolling shutter distortion.
Send your photos and videos to your client faster and more reliably than ever, whether connected wirelessly via Wi-Fi 6E (depending on the region) or via USB. Choose an optional battery grip for connection via 2.5G BASE-T Ethernet.

8K RAW UP TO 60P IN-CAMERA
Use the full width of the EOS R5 Mark II sensor to capture stunning 8K footage, with rich details and easy cropping during editing. The Light RAW 8K 60p captures moving subjects with exceptionally smooth motion. The 12bit color depth offers detailed gradations and a wide dynamic range.
Choose between 8K RAW footage for ultimate flexibility during editing or MP4 formats that perfectly fit your workflow. You will also find the same XF-HEVC S/XF-AVC S formats used in professional camcorders and Clog2 and Clog3 for efficient color grading.
FLEXIBILITY IN VIDEO RECORDING
Regardless of the editing workflow, the EOS R5 Mark II is the ideal choice, as it allows shooting at various resolution values, frame rates, and encodings.
More shots
Capture 8K 30p video up to four times longer, thanks to the cooling function integrated into the optional grip with cooling fan CF-R20EP.
Smooth and stable footage
The advanced 8.5-stop image stabilizer built into the body of the EOS R5 Mark II effectively smooths out any unintentional camera movement when working without a tripod. Create such smooth shots that they will look as if you were using a gimbal or dolly.
CAPTURE SUBTLE MOMENTS AT THE RIGHT TIME
Capture 45 megapixel photos at an amazing speed of 30 frames per second, freezing motion with a top electronic shutter speed of 1/32,000 sec.
Capture so much more than just a frame
Designed for professional hybrid photographers covering various events. While the Dual Recording function of the EOS R5 Mark II is enabled, with a single press of the shutter release button during Full HD video recording, 7680x4320 (8K) JPG photos are captured at up to 7.5fps with the same shutter speed - all without interrupting video recording.
The EOS R5 Mark II is built to the rigorous standards loved by reliable image creators. Moisture and dust seals protect the camera in adverse environments. The magnesium alloy frame is durable enough for professional use.

Just a week with the r5II, definitely positive impressions, but!! Incredible AF with various smart features to make your life easier, pre-shooting very clever if you’re doing wildlife, the 30 frames are just fine compared to the competition and the category, 8k video is simply indifferent and a trick to sell, but it has good 4k, the sound at 100 frames is just unnecessary, some ambassador-type guys find it a crazy upgrade, as if you shoot 100 frames to record sound on the camera, anyway, the full HDMI is very good, stabilization is fantastic, the screen is okay they could make an upgrade like the Sony a9III, as well as the viewfinder is not something wow but it’s just fine, the battery change from this series is a big foul as it essentially renders the previous ones useless while they are compatible to buy others because some functions of the camera do not work with the old one, as well as its consumption, it draws a lot of power especially with large lenses for a Greek wedding you need at least 4 batteries I’m talking about photos only and it’s among the most expensive of all companies, the upgrade was from r6 as I mention where the comparison is a bit pointless but I comfortably compare it with the Sony a7rv where the differences are fewer than their commonalities.
I am not a fanboy at all nor will I defend and justify purchases and choices, they are companies and they try to make money, the issue is what suits each person, what work they want to provide, how much they are willing to set aside for equipment renewal and how they want to facilitate their work. The reason we use 3 companies for our work is that no camera does everything well.
Canon is mainly used for photos since for video we use Sony fx3, and from the new year red komodo for more demanding jobs, the r5II will work almost exclusively for photos.
I will return again with extensive information regarding its behavior.
If it’s worth the 5k we will find out very soon, it’s not cheap at all of course we are talking about professional use but still the money just for the body is a lot if you add to the cart cf type b memory cards, reader, batteries, the new grip you’ve reached €6000 for fun without lenses. In my opinion, anyone buying such a body should have top-notch RF L lenses in their collection because the lenses are what really make the difference. The reason we haven’t replaced the r6 with r6II or r5 let’s say for so long was because we were buying the best RF lenses like rf28-70f/2, rf 85 f1.2, rf 70-200f/2.8 etc… After acquiring all these lenses we decided to upgrade the bodies, so if you don’t have top lenses it’s better to get a body for half or maybe even less money the result will be equally fantastic, that’s for sure.
I know many don’t like the truth and especially those who have never worked, but have never held serious tools in their hands but have a very strong opinion, there are of course those who say "Either this or Canon", of course I’m not addressing this kind of users, whatever someone who already works with top products says they will always have the opposite opinion.
We will see very soon in real conditions what exactly Canon did, as well as the issue with overheating and whether the 6K is really worth it!
Update 21-01-2021
The R5 II is an excellent camera with plenty of capabilities in photography; in video, it cannot match Sony no matter how hard it tries. The 5K it costs is not worth it at all; if it were priced under 4K, it would be an excellent choice at those pixels. However, changing systems is extremely costly, especially if you have bought 5-6 lenses costing around 3000-4000€ each.
Conclusion: If you own the R5 MK1, don't even think about the MK2; if you have the R6 or any other EOS R full-frame, an upgrade is only justified for purely professional use and nothing else.
