A terrible game I can say. Those who have played the souls will definitely prefer it, personally I don't like games like the souls at all…. This one is a different phase. Maybe because I have never played any game regarding Wukong before. It has some copy, from the new god of war for example. But other than that, it is something original and different… nice story, very good graphics. Just for someone who doesn't want to engage much with the game, it doesn't work. I mean the game is quite difficult and the limited bosses require a lot of effort to be defeated. Unfortunately, there is no option to change the difficulty of the game or something like that…. But if you like difficult challenges, get it without a second thought!
Nice battles, nice graphics, it's too linear if there's something that bothered me it's that there are "invisible walls" everywhere and it doesn't let you explore otherwise it's worth it

Very nice and addictive combat system that adapts to each player's style as they like.
If you finish the game and start NG+, then it's like you've put it on easy, but the first walkthrough requires a lot of patience because it has quite difficult and demanding bosses and mini-bosses.

This would definitely have been the game of the year, but anyway.
I have completed it 3 times with the true ending (those who know, know) and I am now going for the 4th new game plus.
Surely the first time I played it was quite difficult, but that kept me engaged.
Perfect graphics, perfect story, perfect combat, we're talking about masterpieces, and perfect soundtrack, generally anyone who plays it will like it, of course it is a bit soulslike which forgives the player in many aspects.

Game Science, as a new studio, delivered a game to the public that impresses from the very first moment using Unreal Engine 5. The design of the environment, the characters, the effects, everything is well-designed in general.
At very specific points due to the vastness of the world in the game, we find unfinished assets without complete geometry and detail, something that could have been avoided.
The combat system is souls-like; it could have been simpler and more player-friendly. Fortunately, the game does not punish the player for losing at any point, nor does it take away experience points. Instead, it respawns at the last shrine where there was interaction while the enemies respawn completely.
The "see through" mentioned in the combat instructions within the game is the way every player must learn to hit the enemy with a combo just before they land a hit, something that cannot be perceived from the very beginning and requires a lot of time.
The game is divided into 6 chapters, each with its unique environment, with secret areas that open under specific conditions, plenty of battles, items, and exploration. It is not an open world that allows access everywhere.
The first chapter is seemingly easy and quick to complete. The second requires careful exploration and is slightly larger. The third is the largest of all and takes place in snowy landscapes. The fourth is slightly smaller than the third. The fifth is perhaps the smallest in area and ends where you least expect it. The sixth is the final area of the game, the one we see in the introduction with several hidden and roaming bosses.
Black Myth Wukong combines elements from God of War, Ghost of Tsushima, Dark Souls, and Elden Ring, requiring a lot of patience in every battle.
The 3 stars I give are because there are many repetitive enemies but with different names and similar attacks. The title does not give you any advice from the beginning on where you should go, especially when branches or side quests appear alongside the main story.
There were many times I ran to Google searching for what I was missing to collect to open a secret location and how to defeat the enemy within it. There are many bosses that will challenge the player who is playing a souls-like game for the first time, and we might get stuck for a day in the same battle, struggling to win. This happens because many enemies do not give you a second to breathe, let alone attack, which is unacceptable for me.
There are vast, unused areas within the game that could contain something, anything, battles, treasures, yet they are empty and lifeless. New content may potentially be added to cover some gaps.
The absence of lip sync in the English voices is noticeable, where the dialogue is heard but the lips are either closed or out of sync with the sound.
During the game, I experienced crashes twice, while at some very few points like Bishui Cave and Chapter 6 on the cloud, I noticed frame drops.
I take my hat off to the developers who chose to become unlimited ng plus after completion so that the player can fully unlock all the abilities of the monkey warrior.
Whoever writes that the game is difficult should go play Crash Bandicoot and Super Mario… Only for fans of Souls-like games!
Very difficult game which is not for everyone, something that some should know so that the entire 70 bucks doesn't go to waste, and also you cannot change the difficulty level. I am still stuck at the beginning with the white-haired boss since it took me a month to get past the boss with the snakes.

I got it in digital form through the PS Store; the game is simply epic and easily a contender for game of the year
It runs flawlessly on PS5, there are no frame drops, what they say about technical issues is an exaggeration, even if something is noticed at some points, it does not affect the experience. The only thing missing is that there is no HDR option, but still the graphics depiction is beautiful. Maybe with some update they will add an HDR option. It is recommended to set performance mode and in balance mode to put motion blur weak and the brightness in the game menu to 90 or 100. The purchase was made after a week, maybe before the launch it had some technical issues which is why they didn't give codes for reviews for PS5. At launch, it received an update that fixed them, maybe for that reason. Anyway, visually it is stunning, amazing performance mode, great graphics, perfect sound, and excellent gameplay, the story is very good, the combat system is deep. Black Myth Wukong is a masterpiece, personally I don't consider it a souls game, it is difficult in some bosses you will struggle, but the good thing is that it forgives mistakes. There is a lot of exploration, some hidden areas, and some side missions and optional bosses. For me, it is a strong contender for game of the year. Of course, those of you who have PS5 buy it without hesitation.

First of all, let me say that it is a masterpiece. You can't get enough of it. For me, game of the year.

As for the gameplay.
Honestly, I can't understand why they call it souls-like when it is not at all except for the fact that it is based on a) bosses which are not as difficult as they are referred to (I will be more detailed below) b) rest points like bonfires which function as checkpoints and travel from one to the checkpoint.
It is literally a mix of the last two God of War games, Ragnarok and Ghost of Tsushima, and what I mean:
It has stances like Ghost and the whole level-up skill tree is like the last two God of War games. But on steroids (I will also analyze this below).
Regarding traversal.
The game is so linear that it doesn't even have a map. Not even a button for a map. You can't stray from the path. You don't get lost. You don't fall (except for some deliberate cases like walking on a plank and you shouldn't fall). You go from point A to point B, with some areas opening up more and having the illusion of an open world but in reality, it is just a larger "cage." Anyone who has played Ninja Gaiden will immediately understand the style or the old God of War games that were linear.
Now regarding the difficulty.
Anyone who hasn't read Journey to the West should be informed that Wukong killed all of heaven. 150k army. 4 heavenly kings and their families. AT THE SAME TIME. While laughing and trolling. Only Buddha managed to stop him and even then with great difficulty. Where I want to get to. He is deliberately one of the most overpowered beings in world mythology with literally countless spells or powers. And that is what they want to show. This is also reflected in the skill tree. You are a GOD in every sense of the word. There are close to 200+ skills and spells to the point that you ask yourself if you need them all. For example: Whatever mini-boss you kill, you can transform into that. You have Fire, Frost, Electric, Poison elements. You have as many buffs as you want and they are craftable. You become broken if you engage. If someone has the patience to farm, they literally wipe the floor with the enemies. So the issue of difficulty is purely in your hands. It is not like souls where as the levels increase, the levels of the bosses also increase. If I were to compare the difficulty to something, it would be the Valkyries from Gow IF you go through the levels at a normal pace. There are also optional bosses that you can leave. You can become overpowered and while you are at X checkpoint in the 3rd area, travel back to the first checkpoint of the first area to take care of it.

Difficult BOSS fights, if you haven't had experience with soul Games you will find it tough. It's a soul-like GAME. Beautiful graphics. Runs very well on PC (Ryzen 5 5600, RTX 3060 12 Gb, B550 Asus Strix mobo, M2 Crucial P5 k RAM Corsair 32Gb 3200Hz). Max settings 55-60 frames at 2K resolution. I mention the specs for future users who are unsure if it runs well.
