With the help of Captain Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, Batman takes on the task of destroying organized crime in Gotham City forever. The trio proves effective, but soon finds themselves ensnared by an emerging criminal mastermind known as the Joker, who plunges Gotham into anarchy and forces the Dark Knight to tread increasingly close to the thin line between hero and vigilante.
