With the updated Katana Gen 3 series, the renowned BOSS amplifier line evolves to take your aspirations to a new level. The new Tube Logic enhancements enrich the core platform with more sounds, top-notch feel and response that edge-of-breakup lovers will adore. The BOSS Tone Studio app has been upgraded, making amplifier and effects settings easier than ever.
The BOSS Katana-100 Gen 3 is the essential tool for studio recording, live performances, and daily practice. Equipped with 100 watts of Class AB power, it provides the necessary power in a conveniently portable 1x12 combo. The BOSS Katana series has become the standard for guitarists since its introduction in 2016, incorporating decades of BOSS knowledge.
The Katana Gen 3 offers more options and flexibility. The sound becomes richer as the volume increases, yet also very loud for many playing situations. The built-in Power Control allows you to achieve high-volume sound without negatively impacting the tone.
Specifications are collected from official manufacturer websites. Please verify the specifications before proceeding with your final purchase. If you notice any problem you can report it here.
I picked up the amplifier for a home studio.
The sound (especially the bass) is very good for the price. The high frequencies are not the strong point of the amplifier, but they are quite satisfactory.
The software is, in my opinion, a bit tedious to learn, but ultimately it is very convenient.
The amplifier is quite bulky and heavy, making transportation somewhat difficult.
In the end, it's worth it because the speaker is worth its weight.
Recently, BOSS launched the 2nd version of the Katana series with the Katana 100 MkII being a bit more expensive but quite refreshed.
If you're looking for something similar in an amplifier and have some extra money or want the best in Katana, get the Katana Artist MkII, which has even better sound than the Katana 100 and some extra goodies, like more connections for speakers, etc.
If the idea of difficult transportation bothers you, but you want the Katana sound, go for the compact Katana Head MkII, so you have its small speaker for practice and can connect it to a speaker for live or recording.
The amplifier is amazing; it has all the effects a professional musician needs... I give it 4 stars because the weight is the only negative aspect of the amplifier. Everything else is fantastic; I highly recommend it
