  A mid-range television that won't disappoint. It is the last step before the miniled. The differences it has with them are small, and untrained eyes will have a hard time noticing them. Extremely bright with solid, rich colors. I wonder why it is written that its brightness is insufficient for HDR content. Its whites may be a bit harsh on the eyes. In 4K content, simply fantastic. I had the QLED Q60R from 2019, which is superior in every way to the subsequent Q60 models that came out, and I can compare. Its black is quite decent, without clouding or fading. The sound, a pleasant surprise. However, I must mention something I didn't like. The TIZEN version is verbose for me. It is not as simple as the previous one. It does have many settings, but for some reason I don't understand, some of them are disabled. I also noticed that voice commands on YouTube do not yield correct results, but I might be making some mistake myself.

  It is a very good choice for its price. A good and economical solution for those who want to avoid OLEDs due to the risk of burn-in (which OLEDs have). In this year's model (Q80D), the contrast has improved, but the viewing angle has been limited. This has happened because there is now a VA panel instead of the IPS that last year's and the year before's models had. However, even if you are viewing from the side, the result on the image is satisfactory; the black and colors just weaken a bit, but this is expected and is not particularly bothersome. Also, the Q80D features full array technology with local dimming, which many consider superior in quality and reliability compared to the technology found in more economical televisions. The black in the image is quite good; it is certainly not as dark as that of OLEDs or the more expensive Samsung Neo QLED televisions - like the QN90, QN95, or the Sony Bravia 7 and Bravia 9. However, for the price that the television asks for, the black it provides is quite satisfactory, vastly better than that of the more economical edge-lit televisions, e.g., Samsung Q70D, Q60D, etc. Besides the fact that with the Q80 you do not run the risk of burn-in that OLEDs have with prolonged daily use, the lifespan and reliability of full array televisions, like the Q80D, is considered much higher than that of the more economical edge-lit ones. One more positive thing, the Q80D does not suffer from black crush, as OLEDs do. That is, although the black is not completely dark, details in dark scenes are not lost, as they sometimes are in OLEDs, which exhibit flaws such as near-black level chrominance overshoot, etc. The motion in the image is perfect because the backlight frequency is very high and there is no noticeable flicker; also, the television does not cause fatigue. Regarding motion, the television automatically recognizes 24p signals (i.e., movies) and automatically adjusts the motion processor... of course, you will get a better image from the built-in apps (e.g., Cosmote TV, etc.) than from external devices. In this year's model, brightness and performance in HDR movies have increased, a significant improvement compared to last year's, and the processor has also improved. Now the Q80D has the NQ4K 2nd gen, which is the same processor used in more expensive models. Its operating system, Samsung Tizen OS, is much more secure than the operating systems of other companies because it runs Samsung Knox, which offers additional protection when used. The television has good compatibility with many devices and does not freeze. Also, it connects wirelessly via Wi-Fi with Samsung soundbars. The remote control is also Bluetooth-enabled and works automatically for soundbars and other Samsung devices. In the immediately higher model from Samsung, the QN85D, the contrast and HDR performance increase further thanks to a few more backlight zones, but the price also rises. Of course, the QN85D, like the Q80D, both have VA panels (this year's models) and the same backlight technology (full array), so the difference in image quality is very close. You will see significant improvement in image quality in the QN90D and QN95D models... which have even superior technologies (quantum matrix), providing even better HDR performance, better viewing angles, brighter images, and deeper blacks, but the price rises a lot.

  Overall, the Samsung Q80D is an excellent choice for its price with good contrast, natural image, and satisfactory black levels in movies, and overall reliable construction. And of course, since it is not OLED, you run no risk of burn-in from prolonged use and static images. Additionally, some stores offer extended warranty as extra coverage, as well as additional services such as calibration, wall mounting, etc.
