Description

The Intel Xeon E-2468 is a processor for servers/workstations with 8 cores, set to be released in December 2023, with an MSRP of $426. It is part of the Xeon E series, which uses the Raptor Lake architecture with Socket 1700. Thanks to Intel Hyper-Threading, the number of cores effectively doubles to 16 threads. The Xeon E-2468 has 24 MB of L3 cache and operates at 2.6 GHz by default, but can be boosted up to 5.2 GHz depending on workload. Intel manufactures the Xeon E-2468 on a 10 nm production node, with the number of transistors being unknown. The multiplier is locked on the Xeon E-2468, limiting overclocking capabilities.

With a TDP of 65 W, the Xeon E-2468 typically consumes power levels suitable for a modern computer. The Intel processor supports DDR5 memory with a dual-channel interface. The officially supported memory speed is 4800 MT/s, but with overclocking (and the right memory modules) you can reach even higher speeds. ECC memory is also supported, which is an important feature for critical systems to avoid data corruption. For communication with other system components, the Xeon E-2468 uses a PCI-Express Gen 5 connection. This processor does not have integrated graphics, so you may need a graphics card
Hardware virtualization is available on the Xeon E-2468, significantly improving the performance of virtual machines. In addition, IOMMU virtualization (PCI passthrough) is supported, allowing hosted virtual machines to directly use the hardware of the host computer. Programs using Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) can run on this processor, enhancing performance for compute-intensive applications. In addition to AVX, Intel includes the newer AVX2 standard, but not AVX-512
