Eliminate Dead Zones in Your Home Wi-Fi
The TL-WA860RE is designed for easy extension of your wireless network's coverage and signal strength. With 2 external antennas, it turns dead zones into connected zones, helping to keep your mobile devices, media players, and computers connected to Wi-Fi with a reliable connection.
Plug and Play, Extremely Easy to Use
Users can easily extend wireless coverage by pressing the WPS button on the router and the Range Extender respectively. Once connected to a router, users can simply unplug and plug the Range Extender back in anywhere without needing to set it up again.
Designed for More Convenience
All that is needed for the device to operate is a power outlet to which it is connected. To ensure that no outlet goes to waste, it offers a built-in power socket.
Find the Optimal Position with Smart Signal Indicator
Smart signal lights show the strength of the signal received by the TL-WA860RE from the existing router, which helps in finding the best position for optimal Wi-Fi coverage.
More than a Range Extender
With the AP Mode function, the TL-WA860RE could convert the wired Internet connection into a wireless access point. Besides that, it could function as a wireless adapter to connect wired devices such as Blu-ray players, gaming consoles, DVRs, and Internet TVs.

WiFi 4 tells you up to 150mbps and it doesn't even reach 15. I am in front of the extender but connected to the router 98mbps, I connect to the extender 12-14mbps. I have tried settings, different locations for the extender but nothing. Two stars because it was very easy to install and operate.
Purchase July 2016, a few days ago I discovered that it can also function as an access point! This function is not mentioned anywhere, not even from the manufacturer's website! I have connected it "backwards" from the ethernet output of a powerline from the same company to the ethernet input of the repeater and... the miracle happened! Now speedtestnet shows 50mbps throughout the house. The repeater shows full signal on all mobile devices in the house, look for the setup process as an access point... And you will remember me... Especially if you also have powerline adapters, you can place it wherever is convenient for you!
If it seems strange to you that I rated the speed, connectivity, ease of setup, and range of this product as excellent, but ultimately gave it a low rating, it's because it has zero stability and reliability! It can leave you hanging in the cold and cause you to lose your downloads for no reason at all. Every now and then, there are disconnections that will make your blood boil! The method of connecting this extender is to share the same name as your router, i.e. you don't see a separate - parallel - connection with the designation "_ext" like with other extenders. This means that if you don't unplug it (or turn it off), you can't use the - weak - signal of your router in case of malfunction! And yes, I updated the firmware: it was a complete failure! You can't have any trust whatsoever in this device - stay away, I'm changing it immediately and, due to a bad experience, I won't even consider approaching any networking product that says TP Link!
I have been using it for 2 years in combination with a modem/router from the same company and I am quite satisfied. My router is located at the back of the house, so in order to bring the signal to the front, I placed the extender in a socket somewhere in the middle, where the router's signal starts to weaken significantly. I don't have any major issues, except for 1-2 times a month when it gets stuck and just needs to be unplugged and plugged back in to restart, it transmits WiFi throughout my house without any problem. Now, no matter which room/balcony I sit in, I have a very good signal.
Its setup is easy and it also provides an Ethernet port if you want to connect it wired to your PC. Be careful with the DHCP settings so that it doesn't conflict with the router and disrupt the network. Additionally, I would recommend to those who already have it or plan to get it, to upgrade the firmware from the TP-Link website. I did it and the speed increased on all the computers connected to it.
It is a very good solution when the router is not enough to cover the entire space with WiFi. It is worth the money!
I bought this product a year ago after reading the reviews and because it has a plug and won't occupy my main socket. At first, everything was fine, but as soon as I changed the router after about 5 months, the war of nerves began. Initially, it kept disconnecting constantly and the pages never loaded, giving me an error that the server was not responding. I called the company countless times and made countless changes, thinking that the router and my telephone line were to blame. As soon as I removed the repeater or reset it, it worked fine, but after a few hours, the same issue would occur again, until I completely removed it and my headache subsided. Now I have no problems at all, no disconnections, and of course, the Internet does not freeze at all. I had reached the point of changing 3 routers and constantly toggling the WiFi on my mobile and tablet to get it unstuck. In conclusion, the only positive thing about this product is that it has a plug and a long range, but in my opinion, it does not deliver what it promises.
Very good little machine for its price. With two antennas for strong signal, front socket so as not to occupy the main one, and very easy installation. If I were to find something negative, it would be that it only has one Ethernet output.
Impressive gadget. I connected it in 1 minute with WPS to a Tp-Link Router (I mention this because their compatibility may result in very good performance). The range is extremely satisfying and there doesn't seem to be any signal loss. The socket it is connected to is not rendered useless as it continues to function as a normal socket due to the power outlet. What impressed and satisfied me at the same time is that when you disconnect it from one socket to connect it to another that may be more convenient at that moment, you don't need to reconfigure it. As soon as it is plugged into the new socket, it automatically connects to the router and starts transmitting instantly.
Do not accept it even as a gift. The time you will waste is not worth it. It is good for nothing. Unfortunately, I did not believe the previous speakers and I bought it on sale. Neither in connectivity, nor in speed, nor in distance. A disappointment. It reminded me of some wireless devices that were first released 10 years ago.
The worst thing I have bought in a repeater. It frequently disconnects and its speed is mediocre. Whenever it remembers, it works correctly (rarely).
The only positive thing is that you don't lose the socket where you plug it in.
Stay away..
When it worked well, it was good. But when it was unplugged by mistake or when the power went out, it needed to be reinstalled. It frustrated me so much that I ended up buying another one.
*** NEW UPDATE ***
Because I read in some comments that some people had problems, I personally downloaded the latest firmware update for the device from the TP-LINK website before using it. Maybe that's why I didn't have any problems.
I suggest that anyone who can, check and if they don't have the latest Firmware version, proceed with the update.
Be careful not to get confused with the version. There is version 1 and V2.
Very good range!!! The modem-router is in an apartment on the 1st floor, I placed this TP-Link repeater in an apartment on the ground floor and it has full signal everywhere. I am very satisfied!!!
The initial setup may be difficult for someone who has no knowledge of computers (e.g. my father-in-law).
Easy connection process with satisfactory range. It doesn't have interruptions like similar products I have tried, and personally, it provided a solution to a dead zone in my house. An excellent choice for its price.
I have had it for about 2 years and I have to say that it is relatively good.
Let me explain: When it works properly, the internet is clearly fast and of course it has good range. Of course, this doesn't always happen and if it starts its own restart, it needs to work again and unfortunately this happens often... Also, many times it requires a reset and you have to fix it from the beginning.
Overall, it's a bit frustrating, but if it works well, you can't ask for anything better (maybe the range could have been better, but it doesn't mean it doesn't catch well).
Several times I have returned it to the store for inspection and they say there is nothing wrong with it and I have contacted TP-LINK, but I didn't get any help at least it has a 3-year warranty, which is quite good.
I bought it a week ago and today (December 2016) I returned it and replaced it with another model from the same company, the TP-LINK TL-WA855RE, which despite being at a lower price, is much better in every aspect!
The device has the following significant disadvantages:
• Low signal.
• Low speed.
• Low range.
• Constant disconnections.
• Requires frequent restarts.
The only advantage (in my opinion) of the TP-LINK TL-WA860RE is the built-in socket.
The other TP-LINK model I chose (TL-WA855RE) as a replacement for this one, can be controlled through a very powerful TP-LINK application called Tether for smartphones (iOS & Android).
I note that the TL-WA860RE is not compatible with this application, while I also note that the TL-WA855RE is a much newer model than the TL-WA860RE.
As for the speed, to be specific, I present the following:
• With the TL-WA860RE, I measured the speed through speedtest.net at 1.8 mbps.
• With the TL-WA855RE, I measured the speed through speedtest.net at 7.8 mbps.
In the same space, in the same socket, at the same distance from the router, with the same computer...
The automatic connection never worked.
Even with the regular setting, I still frequently have a problem.
Many times, I don't connect even though it requires constant restart.
Excellent product, it covered a 100m2 house and even discovered neighboring networks that the PCs couldn't see. Very easy setup and it copies the SSID from the original network and the connection password, so it's like having only one network.
I have it for about 10 days and after many tests, I saw that the speed does indeed decrease slightly from the router, especially if it is relatively hidden and receives a borderline signal, so it does not connect consistently. To see accurate results, perform multiple tests on the channels from the router and definitely in the position of the TL-WA860RE. Prefer clean channels that do not have many neighbors, as you may experience interference or disconnections if someone has a strong signal. I noticed that it transmits slightly better on low channels (1-6), although this is not the same for everyone. Also, give a slight tilt to the antennas depending on the direction you want to send the signal. For example, I am on the third floor and I send the signal to the garage on the ground floor, so I have given the antennas a tilt of about 130 degrees (obtuse angle) compared to the socket... (the signal increased from 1 to 2 bars). I repeat, all of this is relative to the area, the number of signals you have around you, the placement of the device, and the channel it transmits on. I tried up to 3 connected devices simultaneously and did not see a significant drop in speed. Overall, it is worth buying if you want to extend the internet coverage, but do not expect it to send a signal over long distances. It is ideal for short to medium distances... It is very important that it is not too far from your router because it will not work. For example, in an apartment building, it is fine from the third to the second floor, but from the third to the first floor, it may not work, depending on the position you have. I measured using the wifi analyzer program on my mobile phone and the router that I receive the signal from is the tp link 8968. UPDATE: I would like to inform you that I made my mobile phone (Samsung Note 3) a wifi hotspot and the tplink860 connected normally after I made some settings in its menu. It is ideal for a vacation home or an area where you do not have stable internet and want to share it over a large radius and with other devices from your mobile phone. Also, during the testing process to find the suitable transmission point on the balcony, it fell from a height of 10 meters and nothing happened to it! Value for money!
Simply amazing, forget about changing antennas and other tricks like that, it's a waste of money. The good thing is that you don't lose the socket and if you place it in a good spot, then you solved your problem. Specifically, in the bedroom after two walls, the signal was non-existent and with a good router (tp-link w8980), as soon as I plugged it in, I have full signal everywhere.
Amazing machine. I solved the problem of my home's wifi once and for all. Very easy to install even if I used the second method with the web interface (my router doesn't support wps). Flawless connection of all devices even in the most difficult areas, especially on the balcony where I had no network at all before and had to rely on my mobile's 3g. Very pleasant surprise that it also supports AC Passthrough protocol, something that is not mentioned on most stores' websites. However, it is written on the box when I held it in my hands. I highly recommend it and for an extra 10 euros, it's worth getting the one without a plug, as you won't render any sockets in your home useless.
I have had the device since the beginning of the year, but today I became a member of skroutz.gr, so I am transferring the review I left at the store of purchase here.
First of all, the quick setup didn't work for me either, but OK, let's move on to the essence, which is the most important thing. After all, you only do the setup once...
Setting it up through the Web Interface is easy, with all the necessary options for network naming, security, etc. It also has no problem with automatic reconnection to the router in case it is interrupted for some reason (router restart, power outage, etc.). I mention this because I had come across a comment about another device that said it did not automatically connect to the router after a power outage!
It has a very good range and a very useful function that helps you locate the most suitable placement point (not too close, not too far from the router), in order to extend your network qualitatively and as much as possible...
Since the first day I set it up, I haven't needed to reset it or deal with it in general, not even once until now (3 months later)...
I recommend it.
Requires reset and every few days, the automatic setup sometimes works, sometimes not. Also, it occasionally gets stuck during page downloads. Ultimately, it slightly improved my issue (long distance between laptop and central modem). For its price...just good.
Very good tool to extend the wireless network and it also provides an RJ45 to connect other wired devices. It also gives you the option and provides an extra socket so you don't lose the wall socket only from this device.
It solved my problem - I didn't have good signal in the rooms of the house. I placed it in a spot in the hallway where the router 'sees' well and it worked like a traffic cop at the turns towards the bedroom and the children's room - until yesterday, the Wi-Fi stopped there. 4 stars - not 5 - due to the non-functioning 'automatic' setup, of course I expected it after reading other reviews and comments, but hope dies last so you try it before going to plan b. If this possibility was not mentioned in the manual and it directly referred you to the setup through the computer - which worked blindly - it would maybe be worth the absolute
A little bit tricky with the setup, but if you have some knowledge, you won't have a problem. However, the performance is excellent, perfect for large houses!
