Kudos to Xiaomi for this true beast of technology. Whatever I say is in vain.
Positives +
Aesthetics
Display
Scrolling
Speed
Grip
Clear call quality
Lightning-fast fingerprint
Fast regular charging
Fast wireless charging
Charger in the package
Waterproofing and many more.
Negatives +
Battery (It should have been better)
Sound (Normal things NOT something special) Anyone who remembers the terrible sound of the Xiaomi mi 10 understands what I mean. For the cost, I believe it is YES worth it and even more...
The device is truly a beast and an absolute monster of technology. For many years, I have gone through dozens of flagship purchases, so a smartphone can no longer impress me like it once did; however, I must congratulate Xiaomi for this creation. The device is beautiful, and its aesthetics are a hallmark of luxury. To avoid tiring you with a lengthy text, I will simply mention the positives and negatives:
Pros:
Aesthetics
Display
Scrolling
Speed
Photos
Videos
Zoom
Wired charging speed
Wireless charging speed
Kit Photography, etc.
Cons:
Weight
Battery (Could be better)
Sound (Could be better)
Apart from the top-notch camera on the phone, it has a very powerful speaker, a very large Wi-Fi range, and a strong 5G signal. Due to the wide camera, it has a high center of gravity, but the software runs smoothly without Samsung bloatware. I come from Samsung and I am very satisfied with the purchase, mainly due to the camera and hardware speed. Also, the build quality, 95W charging from 0 to 100 in 30 minutes. Negatives: the screen, weight, and center of gravity when I hold it for browsing, camera bump. Average to good battery life, but with 95W charging speed, they give us an expensive phone that justifies the purchase cost with its photographic superiority
Having worked for a long time with the Canon 5D Mark III and having a strong dislike for mobile phone photos, my opinion has changed quite a bit, I would say. The quality of the photos definitely doesn't reach that of a professional DSLR; however, this particular mobile phone takes very clear photos, and combined with the Leica filters, especially the black and white in portrait mode, it's incredible. I recommend anyone who buys it to also get the photography kit, as it offers very good flexibility in handling and holding. The only downside is the battery, which drains quickly even in standby mode
Personally, I am very satisfied with the phone, although I have had it for a little while, excellent performance, very fast charging, and amazing cameras! For any issues, I will get back!
One day I have it, everything perfect in terms of speed camera etc., the only thing I haven't clarified is the noise it makes if you shake it inside the camera. It sounds like something is not properly clicked in. Someone else mentioned it here in the reviews. In my opinion, even if it's normal, it shouldn't be like that. If anyone knows, please write.
I am surprised by some comments; one says it heats up... another says the battery is not enough... another dislikes the camera... The phone is 120hz with 2K resolution, so of course it will heat up... the battery is 5,000 and with everything I have all active, it has given me up to 16 hours of usage... and I use it quite a bit... and I charge it at 20% as well... the photos it takes are fantastic... if you know a little how to use them... neither pure nor excessive... nothing... the only problem I had at first was that when they called me, I couldn't hear anything... I called back, and I still couldn't hear anything... and I did a data reset in the phone app settings to fix it... those who say something is moving in the back cameras are the optical image stabilization... which when you are not using the camera, you can hear something moving... in games, there is no lag... like Call of Duty Warzone, which is a demanding game... it plays just fine... but it does heat up quite a bit... the camera, however, I should add, records video up to 8K 30fps and 4K at 120fps... but apart from that problem I had with the calls at first... the phone is fantastic... that's it... I hope I helped someone even a little
I believe that this particular mobile phone is one of the top right now...you can find a detailed video here https://youtu.be/3FiwdAhurn0?si=6XJp3ULQEOjJ5Wfh
Amazing mobile phone, I will only talk about the negatives.
Software: there are some occasional and rare bugs that can be categorized into 2 categories:
1) mobile applications
For example, scanning QR codes is slow or may not work at all.
The cameras, although great, sometimes feel like something is missing. Sometimes they produce slightly shaky images or struggle to focus. I also encountered an issue with the ultra-wide camera where the white balance would be distorted for no reason (it would turn completely yellow when looking at a wall and then bringing a TV into the frame).
Also, there have been instances where I had no signal in a certain location, like in the subway, and then it wouldn't switch back to 5G no matter what (I had to restart the phone).
2) other applications like messenger bubbles. This is not Xiaomi's fault.
It is inevitable to have such bugs when dealing with Xiaomi, as they have a history of facing difficulties in supporting software for the numerous mobile phones they have.
Hardware: the battery could last a bit longer in general.
Let's hope that with updates and fixes, they will improve the camera, battery, and introduce something interesting with AI. I would also like to have a desktop mode, considering this is a powerful mobile phone
To read the comments you are probably thinking of buying the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, so before you buy it let us tell you that it is a quite large and heavy phone that in some hands will create a problem especially the camera bump! In general, it is a flagship except for the battery that seemed to have battery drain to us and the software with updates that reminds of mid-range phones unlike the iPhone 15 Pro and the S24 Ultra.
Before you buy it we have created for you a detailed Review check here: Xiaomi 14 Ultra Review | Maybe the only Not Sponsored Video you will see on Greek YouTube!
I am the owner of the phone for 2 days. What bothered me is that the camera in the photos has a blur, everything is slightly blurry in many shots over 10x, also it is very bad how it focuses a photo resulting in losing significant points in the dark, it doesn't spread the light resulting in many dark spots. Compared to the OnePlus 12 and in many photos the OnePlus had a better image with less noise. I can't understand why it creates this slightly blurry thing. The battery is not bad but coming from the mi 11 which lasted 34 months in my possession, I can say they last the same. I expected an improved battery and slightly larger one as many people talk about the positives of charging but forget that at some point you will need it on a mountain for example or in an emergency and you won't have the battery to do your job. Many people don't think about this. If this slightly blur is fixed with an update and they fix the issue with how it manages light, I believe it will be a great phone. Maybe if it was at 800€ I would have given it 5 stars.
+ sturdy construction
big enough
fits nicely in the hand
very beautiful screen
sound quite balanced and full
very good video
- the battery
the volume of the camera
the quality of the camera in the photo
Despite my concerns and the dilemma between other market giants, it is highly recommended. Excellent speed, incredible photos - I am still learning the functions - and very good resolution.
Positives:
Charges from 0 to 100 in 30 minutes, which I highly value in this phone's purchase. Time is precious and being able to charge the phone so quickly has saved me many times.
Good signal and it works almost everywhere (4G 5G).
Great speakers, excellent sound for a mobile phone.
Incredible display in terms of colors, resolution, and refresh rate.
Very good photos and videos compared to the competition.
NFC works easily (both positive and negative?)
Negatives:
It is relatively heavy and the large camera can be inconvenient to hold.
The battery is mediocre at best. It barely lasts me a day with heavy usage, meaning Bluetooth is constantly connected to a smartwatch, video calls, phone calls, and heavy usage of YouTube and GPS. In addition to that, a few photos and videos, nothing extreme.
The software has various reliability issues. Let me give you an example with a simple QR code scan using the camera, which I tried to do at a cocktail bar in Zagreb to view the menu. All devices (Apple, Samsung, etc.) could read it except for my Xiaomi.
That's it for now, I don't remember anything else and I might add more things later.
Coming from the 13 Ultra and as a professional shooter, with a setup of Sony A7S III-Fuji XH2S-OM1 system etc., yes I use the 13 Ultra and now the 14 Ultra in various projects like commercials and weddings in quite a few shots, I would say. Mainly for shots where you don’t need a gimbal, various slow motion + macro as well as the movie mode which is amazing, you have in your pocket a versatile tool that offers you quite a few pro capabilities like LUT, 10-bit video 4K/60/120p - 8K/24p/30p - 1080p 30/60/120/240/480p but also super slow motion 960/1920fps with 4+2 focal lengths 12mm-23mm-46mm crop 76mm and 120mm and 240mm crop + macro 75mm. These are just a few for the cameras and mainly for video.. I’m waiting for the next firmware update that will elevate it. As for the other quality aspects like build quality, screen, speakers, charging, and a much improved operating system HyperOS, I highly recommend it,,,,,,,,,,, here are 3 videos 4K60p that I shot with the 14 Ultra, all shots are handheld,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBeIvXq3eb8&t=195s................................. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4k-V3lmQpA
I read the complaints of users and I will disagree with the following logic. We cannot negatively judge a device since the company has not completed the first updates. For now, I felt that it is a quality Smartphone with worthy materials. Its construction is such that it comfortably fits in the hand. Its screen is amazing with very nice colors without exaggerating. The viewing angles are something else in every sense of the word. The speed of it you realize that it could not be anything but lightning fast. The speech is very clear and stable, which is pleasant. Its sound is not its strong point in terms of volume, but it is of very high quality. Its battery so far shows that it is excellent. As for the charging, it has lightning speed. The camera performance is very good, but it will become even better with updates. Let's not forget that we are talking about a flagship. I consider the same to be true for the Zoom in videos, which is not particularly satisfactory. What matters is that it is an incredibly powerful device in every sense of the word, which will become a real monster with updates. I would recommend it for purchase especially now that Skroutz offers it on sale.
First of all, let me clarify that I come from the Xiaomi M11 and I missed the episodes where the "flagships" reached €2,000 .... (I stayed at the humble €1,200 for iPhones ....)
I have had the phone/camera for about a week and over the weekend I did some initial tests for photos.
For informational purposes, I should add that I have been using semi-professional DSLRs since 2005 and therefore I have enough experience to compare the photographic capabilities of this particular mobile phone. I also mention that the highly advertised (at the time) Huawei Mate 20P seemed to me .... simply ridiculous compared even to completely amateur DSLRs like the Canon 400d with the plastic kit lens (18-55).
Since then I stopped any attempt to compare.
Note that today for "photography" I have the Canon R5 ...
So speaking from this position, I would say that the Ultra 14 was a pleasant surprise.
The sensor is 'quite capable'.
I have uploaded some indicative photos showing the pros and cons.
Compared to the Mi11, I would say they are 30-40% better and in this sense the upgrade was worth it.
The photos are "almost comparable" to DSLRs but the problem is that this applies up to the size of A5 (so a screen of about 14" can be covered 100% and the photo can be OK with all the details).
The pros and cons therefore continue in relation to the photographic capabilities of 'good' mobile phones.
Video is not a criterion for me personally but I think it is satisfactory.
Unfortunately, I do not have the Camera Kit available to express an opinion.
In terms of the phone: it is very fast (and noticeably faster than the Mi11. The battery can last the day with 45% remaining after 'normal' use.
Charging is very fast with the included 90W charger (I have not tried wireless yet).
Sound: satisfactory (although again - for me personally - it was not a significant factor.
Hello and greetings to everyone. First time Xiaomi user here, having owned various flagship phones in recent years and currently also having the S23 Ultra, Xperia 1v, and Huawei P30 Pro.
Well, everything is fine and dandy, but after setting it up and going outside, I was pleasantly shocked by its photo quality and then disappointed when I went back inside and found condensation in the lens, which is unacceptable!
The problem seems to be global. I removed the SIM card, used a hairdryer, and it hasn't happened again.
I compared it to my other phones and I have to disagree with someone here who wrote about the macro photos two days ago. They are fantastic, and in low light conditions, only the P30 Pro can compete with it, but without the level of detail that Xiaomi provides.
The battery is quite good, and the selfie camera is fine. I am looking forward to future updates regarding the condensation issue.
Also, the LED flashlight couldn't produce a clear beam; not even with zoom or supermoon mode, while the S23 Ultra managed to differentiate the squares and the P30 required some effort.
UPDATE regarding the LED flashlight, it produced a clearer beam than the others, but I had to play with the EV settings for that, whereas the other two automatically produced what they were supposed to
Best ever Smartphone! The best thing that has come out this year and always. I have nothing to say, coming from s24 ultra and 15 pro max I have to say that the difference is chaotic in favor of Xiaomi. The highest quality cameras you can imagine on a device, incredible screen, amazing speakers, speed snap 8 gen 3 with excellent software and fast charging. Just note that the versions from infoquest are much superior to the imported ones and the price difference is worth it, as they are covered by official warranty, more frequent updates, and various hardware/software. The lens system that the chains give as a gift is worth it a thousand times. I recommend it to everyone without reservation
Time for a review because I see people writing nonsense who probably haven't even held the phone in their hands. It is the best thing that exists until now, the Chinese have left Apple and Samsung far behind, wondering where they came from (I have always had Samsung and collaborated with iPhone). It is definitely not for someone who just wants to take simple photos, this phone is for much more. I won't analyze the camera issue because it will become a long discussion (photographer). We're talking about 16+8GB RAM, 24GB in a phone, basically the phrase is that it is both a phone.
I had both the 15 pro max and the s24 ultra. I gave them away and got this one. It's my first time with Xiaomi, to tell the truth, I was very skeptical about the change. In the end, I will say I am very satisfied with the device. It has better cameras than the other two, it lacks a bit in video zoom but I don't use zoom, so... the battery is more or less the same as the other two. The screen is somewhere between the iPhone and the s24 ultra. I believe the device is worth the 1500 with everything it gives you compared to the other two
It is the most complete mobile phone currently available (especially for someone interested in photography). Incredible screen with very good brightness. Loud speakers and spatial sound. Processor that excels in everything you do. Cameras that cannot take mediocre or bad photos. So far, I have not found any disadvantages. It has left me completely satisfied!
Well, I am the owner of this particular mobile phone for a week now. The phone is incredible! Very fast! Awesome cameras! Very good battery that lasts more than a day and charges very quickly even with heavy gaming. Very good sound and colors. The only small drawback I found is that after heavy gaming, the device gets quite hot. The mobile phone comes in a package with a smartwatch and camera kit! So it is definitely worth its money because the gifts included are worth 300€ if you buy them separately. I think it is by far the best Xiaomi mobile phone and definitely currently in the top 3.
