CHIOS MASTIC POWDER (mix)

Mastic is the aromatic natural resin extracted from the mastic tree (Pistacia lentiscus). The mastic plant is an evergreen shrub that can reach a height of three meters. Its trunk surface has plates, resembling wrinkles. It thrives in the Mediterranean, while a particular variety is cultivated on Chios, from which the natural resin or mastic is harvested. The collection of mastic is done traditionally from mid-August until the mid-September.

Mastic has therapeutic properties and is used in the preparation of medicines and vitamins, as well as in cooking, adding a distinctive aroma to various foods, ice creams, and cookies. It is also used in beverages and perfumery, while its fruits are used as a spice.
