Perhaps it is a bit late to review two games that were released in 2010 (2033) and 2013 (Last Light) and both together as Redux in 2014, but they are a pleasant surprise for those who have never dealt with them like me. The truth is that I was never a fan of fps games and that's why this particular redux was collecting dust in my collection for so long. However, starting to play, you immediately enter the world of Metro, which is really atmospheric. The first-person perspective, combined with the claustrophobic atmosphere of the levels, the gas mask that you have to find and change filters for before greeting, the Geiger counter that makes you feel like you're playing near the Chernobyl reactor, and the high-quality sound design (especially with headphones) give an excellent result. The story is very interesting, the duration is satisfying so you don't get bored, the variety and upgrades of the weapons are sufficient, the linearity didn't bother me at all, on the contrary, I would say it helped to keep you constantly engaged, and the alternation of enemies (soldiers and mutants) kept the gameplay at high levels. Finally, there is the option to play either stealth or spartan (action) depending on the player's profile. The game as a redux is very enjoyable to play even today, with the improvements in the visual aspect mainly being evident and not easily betraying its age. The only negative aspect may be that the protagonist doesn't speak, but they have done a very good job with the movements as a first-person perspective. I believe that for those who have never dealt with this particular game, it is worth giving it a chance, especially since the price for both is very low. On the other hand, if someone had played it before, I don't think it offers any exceptional motivation to play it again.
Excellent!! Enjoyably intense and nerve-wracking...the first one is simply good, but the second one, The Last Light, is one of my all-time favorite games..especially at the price it is now, it's worth it!
A good little game, considering the money it cost of course...
I had quite a pleasant time with the "story" as a whole, the story was interesting, unfortunately, it doesn't inspire much to play it again.
You can play it again in the other "mode" (in one mode, there are fewer ammunition, etc. that you find) if you want, but personally, due to its "linear" nature and not, for example, an open-world type of game, I'm not crazy about it.
However, I will eventually get the next one, Metro Exodus. Not yet though, as I still have this one fresh in my memory.
Anyway, for the money I found it for, I don't regret it.
I got the game on sale from the store after I had previously purchased Exodus. I thought about starting over, the game is dark, not considered easy even on normal difficulty, and stands up against COD, BF, Wolfenstein. The only negative thing is some bugs that appeared in both games, like soldiers freezing and I passed by them undisturbed for about 10 minutes
Having in my hands Metro Exodus and at the same time finding the previous 2 Metro games in the store for 5 euros each, I decided to try them out in order to understand the story and see what they have to offer. I consider it a small gem for your collection, especially for those who enjoy post-apocalyptic and claustrophobic games with a hostile and suffocating atmosphere. I will start with the fact that both games have undergone processing to a great extent, so they can be considered honest remastered versions with clear and higher resolution, as well as changes in costumes and differentiation of internal spaces and environments in general. The framerate is at 60 fps and both games are technically flawless and work perfectly on a conventional PS4 console. The sound of the weapons is addictive and at the same time very accurate and satisfying to the player's ears. The gameplay is demanding even at the lowest difficulty level, which starts at normal and does not always guarantee success if you are not focused. There are 2 modes: Spartan for those who prefer combat and Survival for those who want a more stealthy strategic approach throughout the game. Additionally, some in-game choices determine the ending of the game, which is not the same for everyone. Something that I really liked is that the series does not easily grant victory to anyone and has a particularly strong immersive character, which requires everyone to take care of their protagonist in terms of equipment and resources, and in some cases even weapons. The enemies consist of a wide variety of creatures, each presenting its own characteristics and challenges, as well as military groups representing Nazism or Communism, so expect a story that is harsh and presents raw situations experienced by the characters in the fantastic world of post-apocalyptic Russia. Overall, the story is well-written and I would recommend setting the voice-overs to Russian, as the English ones, as you will notice, are laughable with the fake Russian accent. Up to 15 euros, I believe it is a good opportunity for anyone interested in such games, you will not be disappointed in any case.
Very good story, classic (good) first-person battle system, and essentially 2 games with a funny price. Negative that the landscapes were somewhat boring and monotonous, the few monster categories and the few weapons. Overall, a decent fps.
These two games are masterpieces. I had played 2033 before, but I hadn't finished it due to my old PC. The graphics are great, the story is amazing, but this incredible atmosphere of the game is something very rare.
A pleasant surprise, this game may not be well-known but the Gaming Gods have adorned it with the best that an FPS can offer (challenge, immersion, tension) and a very interesting story. At this price, there's no need for discussion. Get it without hesitation.
When I played the game (2033) for the first time on my PC, it consumed my soul... then my computer broke down without even reaching the middle... I finished Last Light on Xbox 360 (awesome game!) and then Redux 2033 on PS4... what can I say... insane experience! The only thing someone should pay attention to before buying the package is the outdated graphics. But still, it will make you lose sleep!!!
One of the most underrated games that exist!!! Although I had seen many videos, I wasn't going to buy it (what an idiot) until I saw the new video from Metro Exodus that will be released on the 18th and I was amazed, that's when I got hooked and bought the redux!! The atmosphere of the game is unreal, you're constantly on edge because you never know where danger will come from, literally! (You'll want a filter in your gas mask and not be able to find one and hear Artyom struggling until he finally finds it!!) Such great work has been done in the game! Graphics and gameplay are pretty good!! The story of the game is a chapter on its own, it immersed me so much in the world of Metro that I bought the book on e-book... (I never read books!!!) It impressed me so much... For the money it's a must-buy, whoever is still thinking about getting it should do it today!!
Metro Redux on PS4 & XBOX ONE includes the games Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light with new graphics up to 1080p, along with all the Last Light expansions (meaning DLCs) that have been released for it.
Each game has a duration of about 12 to 14 hours, and both together around 30+ hours of gameplay. If you haven't played them already (since these games were initially released on XBOX 360 for Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light on PS3 / XBOX 360 & PC), you shouldn't miss them for any reason, especially if you are a fan of horror survivor games. In any case, they will not disappoint you if you choose them, as they will transport you to a post-apocalyptic environment where terror and human misery lurk in every corner, whether psychological or physical!! The point here is that you will truly experience that the events around you are happening, and that you are also a part of them, trying to survive at all costs! If you don't try hard enough, you will simply die screaming in pain and despair, alone and helpless in the next dark and damp corner you encounter, without even realizing what hit you. Because in the world of "METRO," carelessness and mistakes are not forgiven (it's just you and your weapon!) anything that moves out there, except for you, is extremely deadly and dangerous, and you will realize this very soon, as both the environment you move in and the enemies you are called to face within it will constantly remind you, and in a very painful way indeed.
So be careful where you go and (especially) what you do.........! Will you be able to survive in the nightmarish world of M.E.T.R.O? You will only find out the answer for yourself! And believe me, you will not be pleased at all that you tried to satisfy your curiosity.
P.S. For me, due to the extremely shocking atmosphere of the post-apocalyptic element, flawless gameplay, and very nice storyline development, it gets a 10/10!!!!!
P.P.S. Happy shopping to everyone. {{ My respects, dear readers! }}
2 in 1 with DLC and better graphics. Atmospheric with pretty good gameplay. I would say it's for enthusiasts and trophy hunters, as you will need to play and replay, with a different approach of course. The game has substance even if you're the type who gets bored quickly, as you can still engage with it after some time. The story is also very interesting. Value for money.
I didn't like it, I found the players' movements very robotic, the graphics very mediocre, and the game in general very average. Play the demo before getting the game, to make sure you like it.
Anyone who has read the book will find it fascinating. It follows the same story and has a great duration and action. The protagonist, Artem, is a classic.
Metro Redux is the games Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light with new graphics and all the expansions that have been released. It is essentially the complete edition of both games with better graphics.
They run at 1080p and 60fps on PS4, and the gameplay is incredible.
Each game has about 12 hours of gameplay, and both together have around 25 hours of gameplay. If you haven't played them, they are a must-buy and everyone who is a fan of horror/survivor/zombie (although they are not exactly zombies, more like demons) games should have them.
In terms of atmosphere, it is very reminiscent of The Last of Us, only instead of being a 3rd person game, it is a 1st person shooter.
Claustrophobic game. It is old and it shows. The story's progression is linear, so the game is not "open world". Personally, I get tired of the many cut scenes, but as an old stalker... I love it
