In the positives: good steel, excellent cutting edge, nice balance, small size and weight. In a few words, it is suitable for small woodworking tasks, such as splitting kindling, camping, bushcraft, etc. The backside can also be used as a hammer, although the manufacturer does not recommend it.
In the negatives: the handle is hollow plastic, which does not justify its reputation and cost. It could have at least a cap on the bottom of the handle. Also, the sheath is a plastic piece, it would be nicer to have a wearable fabric sheath. That's why 3 stars, when you can make a €5 hatchet cut just as well with the right sharpening.

I have it for over 5 years, frequent use every winter. It is the best hatchet in all categories. Camping, Hiking, Trekking, and Survival. It is as versatile as a hatchet could be, meaning it chops and splits equally well, something that only Fiskars offers, with the design of the head that their hatchets have (Attention, I am referring to the classic design and not their models with the wide geometry that are purely for splitting). Fiskars hatchets split so well that I would recommend getting the models with the classic head and not the thick one. (Unless you want a large one, purely for splitting). The geometry in a hatchet or a knife is everything, something that many people ignore or don't realize how important it is even if you explain it to them. Then comes the paint/hardness of the steel and lastly, what kind of steel it is. Marketing these days has turned this upside down in the world, so they can sell as many tools as possible! Also, the thin geometry on the edge helps a lot in many things, both in the Fiskars X7 and in all Fiskars. That's why most people don't know and think that the steel is bad, etc. etc. All hatchets and knives, the first thing they need is 2-3 sharpenings and maybe a little conversion to the flat edge, to a slightly curved one, so that they perform as they should.

Very good hatchet for the backpack, it is lightweight and does not require much force to do its job. I accidentally hit an iron next to what I was cutting and, of course, the blade got a little damaged, clearly due to my carelessness, but as soon as I sharpened it on a sharpening stone, it became just like before (In my opinion, it needs a little sharpening before the first use).
