Unbelievable lens. Minimal distortion at 10mm. From there on, it completely disappears. Wonderful colors, good sharpness. The enjoyment of the wide-angle.
After moderate use at intervals, I would say that in terms of performance/price, it is good. Yes, it has issues with sharpness. The color representation also has some issues, but they can be corrected with post-processing. Since I mainly used it for landscapes, I wouldn't say that it satisfies me, but this is mainly because I want minimal distortion at the edges, and it is just slightly below my expectations. Nevertheless, even so, I consider the purchase to be good.
I consider this lens to be average to good, and not a perfect super sharp lens as it is described in various foreign and Greek reviews.
So, everything comes down to the price. For this price, it is simply good. However, if you have specific requirements for image quality, it is better to choose something else.
First of all, I should mention that it is a lens for shooting in sufficient lighting. If the lighting is low, as is the case in many indoor spaces even during the day, and you want to shoot from 12mm handheld, do not have high expectations for image quality. So, the issue of how it is used also arises. For night photography, we simply don't discuss it.
Let's move on to the topic of sharpness that everyone talks about. At 10mm, we have very good sharpness in the center of the image, but the edges are so soft that it makes you think about cropping, especially for landscape shots in the forest. There is also very noticeable chromatic aberration, especially in the representation of whites or grays. Of course, this applies to my case where my camera did not have the lens data for correcting peripheral illumination, as it was released before 2014 when this lens came out.
Other than that, what I really liked about this lens is the representation of the blue sky in a landscape. Simply amazing.
It is also very lightweight, quiet, with extremely fast focusing and sharpness, as I mentioned before, simply good but definitely much better than kit lenses.
Absolutely entry level lens. Using it, I am satisfied with its weight, speed, and autofocus noise. As for image quality in photos, I wouldn't say it has left me particularly satisfied. I would recommend it for video, but also for those who want to get something cheap to cover wide-angle lens issues. For those who have demands in image quality in photos, it's better to go for something better.
Especially at 10mm, the image it gives is impressive, in the interior of buildings, the exterior of large buildings, and in landscape photography. It is highly recommended as an additional lens!
Very good lens, considering the price always. Very good for landscapes, as it will capture everything in the frame... the sharpness is more than satisfactory. Where it falls a bit short is in low-light shots without special lighting, but thank goodness for programs (Photoshop, Lightroom) that can provide the extra light it lacks...
Lens for aps-c cameras, landscape, minimal distortion and vignetting. Very affordable, with image stabilizer, good construction although a bit plasticky, highly recommended for those with a small budget. My best choice until I switch to full frame!
The cheapest wide-angle lens on the market, but only for Canon crop. Lightweight, with extremely fast and accurate autofocus, completely silent and therefore suitable for video. However, the feeling you get when you hold it in your hands is more like a lens made of cheap plastic. It has a plastic mount, although it hasn't caused me any problems so far. Its most serious drawback for me is the fact that it is a bit dark lens. It starts at 10mm with an aperture of 4.5 which quickly becomes 5 at 12mm. Of course, this doesn't create any problems at all for outdoor shots, but for use in less illuminated or dark areas (e.g. indoor spaces, etc.) we should be prepared to make adjustments in terms of speed and ISO. Anyone considering it for astrophotography would be better off forgetting about it and going straight for the Tokina 11-16 or the Samyang 14 with an aperture of 2.8. If astrophotography is not your intention and you are thinking of buying a wide-angle lens, I think this lens is a very honest solution, especially because of its low price. Personally, I bought it to experiment and I'm thinking of keeping it until f/2.8 becomes excessively necessary for me. Good shots!
Excellent lens, minimal distortion at 10 mm which completely disappears after 12 mm. Quiet and without chromatic aberrations at the edges. Ideal for indoor shots, landscapes, and videos.
Apart from the overall construction quality, the extremely low price and the almost perfect image result, you will be impressed by the immediate response of the Af and even more by the...quietness of the lens! Highly recommended.
