I replaced a Chinese source costing €30 with this one. Chaotic difference. Combined with 4 aftermarket speakers, the car's sound system took off. Very high-quality construction with sturdy buttons that you can feel when pressed. Many useful sound settings such as Crossover HPF for the speakers and LPF for the Sub, three levels of Loudness, SRtr, a 10-band equalizer, Sub volume adjustment, etc. Also, easy and direct connection with iPhone!
After each start of the car, the microphone loses its settings and goes to off, and the volume is also at 0, so every time you have to go into the menu to turn the microphone on and set the microphone volume to 10. Also, the buttons are very difficult to use
Flawless, a pioneer in stable value, it has everything inside, even a microphone, all the cables/connectors one might need are included. I've had it for almost a year and it doesn't disappoint. Bluetooth + calls, plays music normally from USB plug and play, Spotify app. It has it all and of course, AUX as well. 10/10
Installation in store and I haven't encountered any problems. They placed the microphone discreetly on the driver's column and when I talk on the phone, I haven't experienced any issues. It surprises me that it cuts off the left speaker, probably to avoid echo. Along with two speakers, my 20+ year old car has leveled up!
Installation in 2 cars, works like a charm, does what it says, both amplifiers were adjusted with DD1+. No interference or buzzing whatsoever, highly recommended!
Terrible sound for Pioneer, many connectivity issues with the USB, it would randomly switch to the radio or somewhere else, and the same goes for Bluetooth
I won't add anything new regarding its function as a sound system. It has good sound quality and is an upgrade compared to an old factory sound system, especially since it allows you to listen to music via a connection with your phone.
HOWEVER: It was impossible to achieve consistently good call quality. As others have mentioned, my device has an issue with its external microphone. While I connect it, test it, and it works, when I plug in the sound system and the car is in motion, it fails again; my callers hear me as if I’m in a well, making our communication very difficult to impossible. I changed three microphones thinking it was an issue with the external microphone, but to no avail. While searching, I discovered that the same problem is reported on many sites for various models of the same brand and pertains to the internal components of the device, not the external microphone unit, which could have been easily and cheaply resolved.
In short, if you want it for sound quality and music connection from your phone, it’s a good budget choice. For a complete solution to communicate through the sound system, it is not recommended. Of course, it might work properly for you, but the situation is like playing the lottery.
Time to try the warranty.
Amazing for the price
The app is more than just a gimmick, it makes it easier to set up audio settings and has a very good 32 band EQ and allows to set up virtual crossovers on speakers (my front speakers are factory and tend to crunch on bass so it allowed me to lower bass on those and leave more base for the back speakers which are aftermarket)
Sound quality is amazing and the app has a virtual speedometer that uses the phone sensors to measure speed (great when your speedometer is faulty)
Most import it has crash detection based on the phone sensors that allows the radio to send a text message to a family or friend in case of crashing
Excellent!!!!
Menu navigation on the radio itself is a bit combursome (due to too many options) but great on the app
Purchase of one month. It is a good value for money choice for someone who wants to have a modern car radio with all the functions. Easy installation! User-friendly menu that someone without special knowledge can learn! Instant connection with Bluetooth and satisfactory sound quality with factory speakers. I deduct one star because even though it has an external microphone, I receive complaints that they cannot hear me during a call via Bluetooth! Especially if I have the window open, nothing can be heard! The microphone is placed on the driver's column, so it is essentially next to me!
coming from the Osio source of 40 euros, which was decent for its price, the difference in sound is huge.
1. Higher volume.
2. Frequencies appeared that you couldn't hear with Osio.
3. Menu with a plethora of settings.
4. It can handle a powerful sound system (the speakers I have are Alpine replacements for the factory ones, and it seems like it can deliver much more).
5. I put a 160-watt speaker from a home audio system experimentally and it handles it clearly without any problems, along with the two 25-watt ones I have in the doors.
6. Easy installation, plug and play.
7. From the menu with the knob, you can also make phone calls.
8. Crossover, detailed equalizer.
I have not regretted at all the money I have spent on this particular source. It has several sound quality settings, excellent. I have combined it with two pairs of speakers, one 12-inch subwoofer, and two amplifiers, and they kill it. Bravo to Pioneer!
The menu gave me a bit of trouble, but I looked at the manual and figured it out. The installation was easy and the sound quality improved significantly. The microphone is quite good. I placed it on my dashboard for better audio. They say they can't tell the difference between me being on the phone call and using the device. The app is a bit annoying, but it does its job. Overall, it's a great value for money
Good for what it offers, you need to know that some functions require the Pioneer app on your phone to be open in order to work, for example, the red button next to the steering wheel, which opens Google Maps directly on your phone, is very useful.
The Spotify function never connected to my phone, I don't know what else it offers compared to the regular Bluetooth audio function.
The previous/next and play buttons could be in a better position, or the wheel could function as a joystick. That's how it worked on my previous Pioneer.
Pressing the wheel takes you to the menu, it would be much better if it played/paused or muted. Speaking of which, there is no mute button anywhere.
During installation, I had to disconnect the blue plug (remote control) from the back, otherwise it wouldn't turn on.
Overall, I was very satisfied, just after 2 weeks of use, sometimes while playing music from Spotify, it disconnects and doesn't reconnect, and I have to turn off the car for it to be able to connect again, simply removing the device from the dock is not enough for it to recover. It may be temporary, time will tell.
After almost two years of use, it developed a problem with Bluetooth connectivity; you can't play music from your phone through the Pioneer app. The sound is distorted
Excellent in everything and I'm not exaggerating with the burnt speakers, it changed the whole sound of the car!! I highly recommend it, everything works as it says and the app is very helpful! I haven't tried the microphone yet...
I have 1 TRF SUB with 2 GAS 6.5 with a Four-Channel and the source is on another level, it's worth it especially if you have a sound system, very clean sound and the filters are impeccable, no comparison to other sources in the category.
I give it three stars because it is relatively flawless, but it has an issue with the speaker settings. For example, my right speaker has burned out and I set it to play only on the left side. It holds the setting for one week, but the following week it loses the setting. It doesn't lose the settings for the stations, but it does lose the settings for the speakers
Excellent sound system that truly upgrades cars older than 10-15 years. Many options, user-friendly menu, and of course, the connectivity with smartphones (especially with Spotify) takes it to the next level. I agree with others that it is mainly suitable for older cars to upgrade their sound. It requires a 1 DIN front panel that matches your model in order to fit correctly. Just be careful with the connection, as depending on the car brand, you may need a suitable adapter and antenna adapter. In my case (Opel Corsa D 2008), I bought them afterwards after discovering it. Unfortunately, I also needed a special connection patent with the help of an electrician, as it wouldn't turn on otherwise. I ran a line for the red power cable behind the steering wheel directly to the car's fuses on the left, in the compartment under the lights. I found this patent on the internet, but I didn't have the right tools and experience to do it myself. There is a video that demonstrates it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLhsgV8rOEc
I repeat, it is for Opel Corsa D. In many other brands and models, it connects easily as others have mentioned without any problem.
Finally, in order to maintain the memory of the sound system (time, stations, etc.) and not have it turn on with factory settings every time from the beginning, you simply need to change the two transparent plastic clips of the Pioneer cable that comes with the sound system, so that the red connects with the yellow and not red with red and yellow with yellow as it is from the factory. Of course, it probably works fine with other brands.
Although someone might read the above and get discouraged, the overall picture is impeccable and I consider it a very good choice. I highly recommend it.
I am looking forward to the first big trip to enjoy some great music.
The installation was easy and quick, it took me about 20 minutes because my old source was stuck. It is user-friendly and has many functions. The app connects easily and quickly. One observation is that the Spotify function has better sound quality than the general Bluetooth function. If it doesn't save your settings, you will need to reverse the yellow and red cables as happened to me, but luckily I knew about the problem.
Excellent, sound quality, volume and many useful settings. Through the Pioneer app, it also has remote control. Occasionally, there are connection issues with the app, but they can be resolved with a simple trick. Update: after 2.5 years, the tuner suddenly stopped working, but the rest of the device still functions. I bought the same model again because of its sound quality, ease of use, and variety of controls.
Update: after 6 months, the tuner stopped working again. After a delayed communication and inspection by the dealership, they decided to give me a credit. Therefore, the dealership is responsible, but unfortunately, this specific model has a serious bug. Sadly, I will have to write a LONG review! Changing my rating from 5 stars to TWO.
For its price, it is value for money.
Sound and settings are Pioneer-like but with cheap Chinese construction.
While its sound is at the well-known high standards of its high-end models, the build quality is of poor plastic with corresponding quality lighting and buttons (deep China...).
Another negative is that it does not support remote control. The app cannot replace it since it lacks radio functions and you cannot use your phone as a remote control.
However, for its money and what it offers, it is decent.
It gave a new life to my old car, the speakers sound more vibrant than before, without even adjusting anything on the equalizer. The biggest positive is the mobile application, you connect it to a base (or you can use a second old one to have it permanently) and you have nothing to envy from similar 2DIN audio systems. Calls work properly and the microphone it has makes me sound clear. Recommended!
Absolutely satisfied.
Negatives:
-Poor microphone quality, I struggle to speak on the phone. I feel there is also a significant delay in transferring sound from the microphone to the source and then to the mobile.
-Sometimes Bluetooth has difficulty connecting and requires closing and reopening the source to stabilize (edit was a mobile issue and has now been resolved).
-The Pioneer app allows you to adjust almost everything from your mobile
Positive: 1) The volume and sound quality are unbeatable, not only for its price range but also for more expensive options.
2) It has a very nice appearance, and the buttons are very satisfying to press (it even has a beep sound that can be deactivated).
3) It has a very user-friendly system for answering calls while driving, which doesn't distract attention.
4) The Bluetooth connects perfectly with good sound quality, and it has features like previous, next, pause, and all related functions. It also displays the title of the playing song, so you can connect your phone, put it in your pocket, and you're done - you can control everything from the sound system.
5) The microphone sounds very good during calls, and the cable is long enough to be installed anywhere in the car.
Negative: 1) It doesn't automatically sort folders alphabetically when using a flash drive. The user either has to manually sort them or use a specific program for file sorting in alphabetical order (or it simply displays them in the order they were copied to the flash drive). It's typical for most sound systems, but I expected something more advanced in this price range.
2) The folder switching buttons are inverted, meaning the top button goes to the next folder and the bottom button goes to the previous one. It's slightly annoying and counterintuitive, but the folders can be sorted in reverse order to solve the problem.
3) When pressing the next button, it first displays the track number (e.g., Track 05) and after a few seconds, it shows the name of the track. This makes navigation between multiple music files very slow. It would be better if it immediately showed the track name when pressing the next button, without displaying the track number first. This is the main negative aspect for me because I use these buttons a lot to search for a specific song in a folder.
4) Some necessary screws for installation are not included. This alone is a reason to give it 1 star, but luckily I had the appropriate screws at home.
5) Price. I bought it for 70 euros, which I think is a bit expensive considering that the manufacturer didn't pay much attention to many important details. I would price it at 40 euros.
UPDATE: After a few months of use, there have been absolutely no problems.
Easy installation (depends on the car of course). The microphone works very well. The sound is quite good. It has many settings that you can adjust. The application is unacceptable, luckily it connects to Bluetooth on its own. However, when it comes to Bluetooth, it has a factory issue. It constantly needs to be paired and also interrupts when playing music. They have released an update on the website, which I haven't done yet, that supposedly fixes it. Overall, everything is good. It is a very good choice for its price. I will write an update after the upgrade.
Update 19/5: Everything is good, the only issue is that the source damaged my speakers, which I find logical since factory speakers in a cheap car wouldn't handle the bass. The microphone works perfectly
Nice friendly menu, and it connects with iPhone, but the microphone is probably fake because no one has been able to hear me on a call via Bluetooth. It has a powerful radio, but I believe it loses a bit in sound enhancement due to its price and it doesn't have the strong sound of the pioneer that we knew from previous models. Worth it for an economical solution!
Pantelis lacks instructions. It is unacceptable for the dealership not to take care of providing instructions in Greek. The instructions provided in English are laughable. The cumbersome menu makes it almost impossible to operate the unit beyond its basic functions (radio USB). In order to use the Bluetooth after resetting it, I had to take it to the technician. Otherwise, the radio works well in Athens like all radios, but loses stations outside, like most radios. The USB plays flawlessly, reading songs in random order from various folders.
Very good source, flawless bluetooth (user-friendly with fast automatic connection) and full control of Spotify (list selection, album, artist without using a mobile phone). The application, in my opinion, is not for systematic use but it helped me a lot in adjusting the equalizer and other settings as its own menu is too crowded.
Regarding the sound: in older cars (mainly economical ones with 4 speakers) you won't notice much. In my small-medium car from the 10s (6 speakers), I saw a huge difference compared to the previous aftermarket radio CD. I feel that the source can now deliver all frequencies with great ease, especially the lows. Full warm sound, powerful bass. I have no opinion on connecting it to an amplifier.
Update: After 3 summer months of use, I noticed that the screen brightness is low, especially in cars where the radio is positioned high, making it difficult to see what the screen says when there is sunlight. I would also like it to automatically dim when I turn on the lights (although it has automatic dimming based on the time).
Update 2: The microphone suddenly stopped working (it seemed to be of poor quality from the beginning). The problem can be solved by purchasing another similar one
