  The jacket is for mild cold weather (from +3 and above). It is a good windproof and waterproof but that's about it. For colder weather, you need the contribution of a good fleece. If you are between two sizes, prefer the smaller one (as always with Columbia)

  The jacket is suitable for winter (long, adjustable hood, large pockets for snow gloves, tightening sleeves) but thin, meaning it functions as an external insulation and protection from rain and wind, without being too warm. It can be worn with just a shirt up to 10 degrees, but for lower temperatures and below 0, additional layering such as fleece, thermal wear, etc. is needed. Its fit is regular to loose and allows room for 2-3 layers underneath. The fabric and stitching quality is very good. Overall, it is a more casual alternative to Columbia's "heavy" 3-in-1 jackets.
