Dye for Easter Eggs:

• Grind the madder root in a mortar.
• Boil it in water for 10 minutes.
• Let it sit for 2-3 hours or overnight.
• Strain it.
• Add 1/2 cup of vinegar.
• Place the eggs inside, and if necessary, add water to just cover them.
• Boil for about 15 minutes.

Dosage: 70 g of madder root for 15 eggs.

The madder root has medicinal properties. Its root contains glycosides, citric acid, tannins, pectins, as well as sugar. Glycosides are said to have anti-inflammatory and spasmolytic effects on the urinary system.
