Description

Stay discreet and fully immersed in the moment with the aperture ring of the XF27mmF2.8 R WR, which allows you to externally control your aperture, even when the camera is turned off. This feature minimizes errors with a new aperture lock button that keeps the ring locked in the A position.

With an ultra-compact and lightweight design, the XF27mmF2.8 R WR is the ideal prime lens to always have with you. For this reason, it has been equipped with extensive weather resistance and the ability to operate in temperatures as low as -10C. No matter where you are, this lens is always ready to perform.

With a DC core motor that moves the entire lens group, the XF27mmF2.8 R WR is capable of extremely fast, accurate, and nearly silent autofocus. Combined with a wide F2.8 aperture, it creates high-quality images with beautiful background atmosphere, even when the light is low.

Lens hoods play an important role in photography. By blocking stray light from hitting the lens, they help prevent flare. The included cup-shaped hood is small and compact, reducing uneven flash coverage or obstructions in the field of view.

The XF27mmF2.8 R WR is an excellent choice whether you are an amateur, a street photographer, or an experienced professional looking for an ideal option for everyday use.

This review is about a variation of the product

Bought just 1 month ago, exclusively for street use. The first lens I buy for the XT4, as I want it only for street and I want to have the most compact setup.

I haven't tried it many times, but from the first samples I have the following observations:
    - Obviously, it is super lightweight and discreet.
    - The aperture ring gives it even more flexibility.
    - The autofocus is relatively slow, always compared to the Sony prime lens I have, but it was expected to sacrifice something for the compact size.
    - Image quality is more than satisfactory. Not perfect, but it does its job well enough.

Something that really bothered me is that if you have the Aperture Ring set to "A" and the camera set to "Button dial>Aperture ring settings>Auto," then the viewfinder does not change regardless of the ISO or shutter speed you set. In other words, the camera functions like a DSLR...(!)
Where you have to take a photo to see what came out, readjust the settings, etc...
The good thing is that I never work with Aperture priority, so it doesn't bother me. Nevertheless, the issue exists.
And yes, I have the settings set to "SETUP>SCREEN SETUP> PREVIEW EXP/WB IN MANUAL MODE> EXP/WB."

Very strange, but not a deal breaker.

Overall: A super compact lens, with good performance and few flaws. Definitely value for money
