The U 87 is the well-known and most widely used studio Neumann microphone. It is equipped with a large dual-diaphragm capsule with 3 polar patterns: omni, cardioid, and figure-8. These are selected by a switch located just below the grille.

Additionally, a 10 dB attenuation switch is located at the back, and when activated, it allows the microphone to record sound sources up to 127 dB without distortion. The low-frequency response is adjusted according to your recording needs.
