What can I say about this game that hasn't already been said? One of the best of the PS3/Xbox 360 generation as well as one of the best from Rockstar Games. An opportunity for those who didn't play it in its time to buy it now. You won't regret it!!!
P.S. Because many get confused and buy blindly before doing some market research first. This specific version is neither a remake nor a remaster. It simply has upscaled the textures compared to the original version and, most importantly, runs at 60fps.
First of all, I have to talk about those who say that it is the same game with the graphics of the PS3 on the PS4.. yes, it is true but no one ever said that it is remastered. It is definitely better than the second one despite its old graphics.
The game is a masterpiece, but this version, which is just the PS3 version for the PS4, not even a Remastered, is not worth its money. If you haven't played it, you must definitely buy it, as long as it drops below €20... Shame on Rockstar's attitude towards the Red Dead Redemption franchise, they have released a Remaster for every console for GTA 5, but for Red Dead Redemption they make this cash grab, while there isn't even a next-gen patch for Red Dead Redemption 2, while GTA 5 has it...
I just finished the game for the 3rd time on PS5 - I first played it in '15 on PS3 and then played it again on Xbox One X (which had a 4K upgrade).
First of all, the game is NOT worth the money it is currently being sold for (50€) as it is exactly the same game we had on PS3, only with upscaled graphics and the addition of 60fps with the latest patch on PS5. Especially when you consider that remakes like RE4 are sold at the same price, then RDR should have been sold for less than 15-20€.
On the other hand, the game with 60fps is truly a masterpiece and unfortunately, it seems to be the only way to play it on modern PlayStation consoles (Xbox has backwards compatibility from 360) and it is worth it because on PS3, the game runs at 640p resolution and has an average of 23-25fps.

This is exactly how the game runs and looks on PS5.
In conclusion, the game is 1000% worth it for someone who has not dealt with it at all and definitely worth it for someone who had played it on PS3 because now they can enjoy it exactly as we would have wanted it to be in 2011. A remake would have been incredible, but Rockstar is who they are and they will never give it to us.
For now, the way things are and at the price of 45 euros, I wouldn't say it's worth it. It's literally the exact same game if you played it on the PS3, there are no changes in gameplay or any substantial changes. The resolution is obviously better, but that's about it. The game itself is amazing, undoubtedly, with a great story and many things to see, but if you've already played it, there's no reason to get it again, especially at the current price
Well, I have to say that I got this particular port digitally on day one with a card I found at a good price through Enemba. Am I proud of it? No. The only reason I did it was because I was playing rdr 2 for the first time and the first rdr was one of the games I had bought but didn't get to play due to yold on the PS3. It's worth playing both games back to back, after all rdr 1 continues the story right at the end of 2. However, don't expect to see anything visually at the levels of rdr 2, the game is a simple port and not a remake or remaster. It has 2 options for anti-aliasing that help make the image smoother. I will add that a couple of weeks ago an update was released that ADDS 60fps to the game. I didn't try it much as I finished the story a month ago, but many visual issues I had when riding the horse at high speeds look much better now. The game runs steadily, when I played it I only encountered some stuttering in the image in some cutscenes, but it ran smoothly at 4K and 30 (which is how I played it) or 60 fps. The gunplay is more arcade-like compared to 2, the character has weight but it's not the same. Personally, I liked it quite a bit as it was a pleasant change after 90+ hours in rdr 2. The story is quite serious, not as much as 2, but for the year it was released it's good. Also, the mission structure has many similarities to GTA in terms of variety, and there are races with horses and carriages, as well as many challenges for duels with random passersby. The missions are divided into main quests where, just like in 2, a marker appears on the map and the player goes there to start the mission. However, I will emphasize that many times you have to wait for a specific time to start because many missions start at specific hours. It also has Strangers and some random events on a smaller scale than 2. Basically, the first game laid the foundations for the sequel to become the behemoth it is, it had to walk so that Rdr 2 could run. The sound is quite good, I played the game with hyperx cloud alpha pro headphones and with the ps5 settings in surround sound, the music enhances the atmosphere of the game and the soundtrack is at a high level. These are my thoughts on Red Dead Redemption in general, not specifically on the port. Unfortunately, I don't remember the PS3 version at all, but I have a friend who told me that the resolution and frames were lower than the proportions due to the poor optimization of the cell. Luckily, there is no such issue here. However, I won't tell anyone what to do. Red Dead Redemption is a game that is worth playing for fans who haven't played it yet. The Xbox version is quite fair for what it offers and at a good price. I can't recommend someone to spend €50 on a very quick port. Unfortunately, this is the fault of Rockstar and Take 2, the studio that took on the contract did exactly what they were hired to do, to transfer the game to newer systems. Without much ado and keeping the core the same, there are no crazy things like the GTA definitive trilogy. It has some technical issues, but I think they already existed from before. The only thing I will say is that whoever really wants to play it should wait for a good deal and not pay full price. But if and when you get it, do yourself a favor and play 2 first and then put in 1 right after, you won't lose if you play it that way.
Shame on Rockstar for releasing the exact same game on PS4, 13 years after its release on PS3, with just higher resolution and 60 fps if you play on PS5, and at the price of 45 euros!!! Disgraceful, a discount and a price of up to 30 euros can barely be justified, but not 45 euros! Beware anyone who buys it, if they expect something like RDR 2, they will be disappointed because this title takes us more than 10 years back in terms of technology, even the menu is very laggy...
