The whole container is made of plastic, quite good quality all around, transparent on the lid so you can see inside what is in the container. Inside there is a second metal container that holds the food, there is a metal divider in the middle so that the foods do not come into contact if you add two inside, which can be removed if you want. The lid closes very well, it does not allow food to leak juices, etc.

  Suitable for microwave? No. (unless you remove the metal container from inside and the lid)
