The tent has been used in Taygetus and I still haven't tested it in rain or strong wind, so I definitely don't have a complete opinion; I will write some first impressions to give an idea to potential buyers (disclaimer: I have never used a winter/waterproof tent or a much more expensive one to have an objective comparison).
I will start by saying that the tent is a 3-season tent. It can in no way be considered a winter tent, as almost 50% of its interior surface is mesh.
Positives:
-Easy to set up. Its poles are aluminum and snap together very easily, almost as if they are magnetized. Even one person can set it up comfortably.
-The stakes are very high quality and also made of aluminum.
-I consider its size to be ideal. It is truly for 2 people; 2 large adults can sleep with some gear inside the tent, while there is also extra storage space outside the tent for medium backpacks.
-Incredibly convenient that it has 2 entrances; the tent literally becomes a deluxe suite with an inflatable mattress.
-The zippers are very high quality, glide effortlessly, and there are several pockets/places inside to put small items.
-Included inside are ropes (premounted) for extra wind resistance.
-Quite lightweight for its size and materials.
Negatives/concerns:
-The tent does not state that it has a PU coating or silicone treatment on its polyester (it simply states that it has a flame retardant coating), resulting in the 5000mm rating being considered unreliable, as polyester tents typically gain their waterproofing this way. There are winter tents with ten times the price that have lower ratings (3000/4000) and truly do not let water in at all.
-The floor is excessively thin, so I consider using the tent without a tarp to be prohibitive, especially in mountainous areas.
-The poles are just 7.9mm when most competing tents have 8.5++.
-The heat-sealed seams (internally) are made with a thin transparent material that is borderline like tape; it didn't give me a very high-quality vibe.
-When packing, the tent is a bit tricky, as it doesn't have standard folds, so it is always borderline in its case when packing.
In conclusion: for its price, it might be the best you can get in a 3+ season tent. If it is indeed as waterproof as the company claims and its poles perform well in strong winds, then I will return to give it 5/5. As an alternative, the only close option I have found is the Keumer Season. So if your budget doesn't allow for something more branded in the 200+++ category, then around 150 I think you will be satisfied.
Edit: The tent was used in a verligka, so I come to make some more observations for those interested.
-Very good moisture management. The floor (in combination with the company's tarp) was completely dry even in very demanding terrain like the wet grass of the verligka (due to very high humidity). I also didn't notice any moisture inside, so the ventilation of the tent is very effective.
-In light rain, it obviously had no issues; it has not yet been tested in heavy rain or strong wind.
-The ropes inside are reflective and shimmer slightly in the dark (very useful to avoid tripping over them and to distinguish your tent).
-The space outside the tent comfortably fits a 65-liter backpack.
- A downside is that on the side pieces of the rain fly (not at the entrances), there is no elastic fabric piece in the center at the bottom to stretch the fly, so that rain is deflected further away from the floor of the tent and to increase airflow.
Warning! Due to this feature and because the tent is 50% internal fabric and not mesh, airflow is minimal. This makes the tent suitable for mountains for most months of the year, but unsuitable for use at low altitudes in summer, at some sea, or generally somewhere with high temperatures early on.
In short, if you take this tent for summer camping on an island, you will boil.
In conclusion, I believe that for its price it is an over-honest package; at least in the Greek market, I haven't found anything more vfm in a 3-season (mountain) tent. It obviously lacks some features that would elevate it very high in the competition, but you can't have it all in this price range.
I will return when it has been used in strong wind/rain to update on that aspect as well.
