I will start by saying that I had this book on my TBR for a while and I was waiting for summer to read it, and it was a good decision! First contact with the author, and I will note that she writes lightly, with humor and relaxed dialogues, which makes it an easy book for the holidays. It is a friends to lovers romance, quite slow burn with references to the past that covers a total of 12 years of friendship between Alex and Popi. Alex is a grumpy and serious professor who loves books and cats, while Popi is the life of the party, with humor, an adventure lover, and dresses eccentrically. The two of them, incompatible and without common interests, accidentally make the trip back from college to their hometown one summer, and that was it! For 12 years, they travel the world every summer and become inseparable. Their friendship is deep and strong, while there is a 5%, as Popi says, of "what if" that happens towards the end of the 12 years and turns everything upside down. I liked it quite a bit as a book, mainly due to the characters and the building that the author did gradually for them. Unfortunately, I found the beginning a bit slow and perhaps tiring, especially the first dialogues where I didn't understand the humor and felt their bond was shallow. However, as the story progressed, I loved the book more and appreciated the fact that the author showed the entire story and all the emotions the heroes went through with the same meticulousness without the ending and their union being rushed, something I admit I see rarely! Also, I should mention that the narration is in the first person from Popi's side, and I missed Alex's perspective in many places; I felt that Alex was emotionally slighted and we didn't really know how he felt. Nevertheless, I really liked it as a book, a light and friendly romance that will keep you entertained on vacation, and I recommend it!
