I use them in CLUB for one and a half years. For 50-60€, they are full value for money. Only their cushion is not of great quality, but it is justified for the price they cost. I recommend them 100%. Next, I am thinking of upgrading to 2 models in the M40x
Excellent headphones. They come with 2 small-large and thick high-quality cables. They isolate external noise perfectly. Very powerful sound. Compared to the terrible and similarly priced Sennheiser headphones I had before, which were made of plastic and broke 3 times until they finally snapped and the cables were constantly cutting off, these are much superior. Good purchase.
I personally enjoyed them a lot! Obviously they don't compare to other premium studio headphones but for their price, I have no complaints! I bought them because I wanted headphones with a balanced EQ for sound mixing and they are excellent! They don't have the best build quality but they are quite comfortable, even for extended use. For the price they are at, I consider them one of the best choices.
If you want studio headphones with a flat sound without embellishments and coloring, it is an excellent choice in budget headphones.
I have more expensive AKG and Sennheiser ones and I didn't find many noticeable differences with these.
They don't squeeze a normal head, they are comfortable and isolate external sound.
If you don't have money for more expensive models, it is a very honest choice for amateur use (home studio)
For everyday use and not professional, very good sound on a computer, it was also made surround with the appropriate software.
Problem with clamping force (pressure on the ears), at first for 2 days they simply killed me until one night I left them wide open and they straightened out. I have a small head.
For their price, they are honest. (here detailed - my review: https://youtu.be/HaQaAq2a7qg) Acceptable build quality with good cushions. They are clearly studio/monitor headphones with a fairly flat sound and without too much bass. Good frequency range and you will hear sounds and details that you didn't hear before. For what they are intended for and considering their cost, I consider them an excellent choice.
Before I start the evaluation, you should know that these headphones are closed-back, over-ear, and their use is for studio purposes.
The M20x headphones are average. As a user who prefers a very flat sound in headphones, I have to say that these specific headphones did not impress me. Apart from the price, the M20x headphones have a stereo sound that is too strong in high frequencies and the bass is very weak. I would recommend anyone who gets them to do a slight 2-3db boost in the bass and a very gentle 2db high cut, and then they will have a satisfactory use.
The use for mixing and mastering for professionals will be particularly difficult due to the headphones' inability to sound flat. I do not recommend them at all for this use because they are not accurate where you would want them to be in the mix. If you are a beginner who is just starting out, this is not the best choice because the Superlux HD-668 headphones, which cost 30 euros, are much better than these.
As for gaming, I won't even discuss how awful they are. Where do I start? The soundstage, the imaging, the dynamic range? They are not gaming headphones because you cannot perceive direction or depth, and the dynamic range is very poor.
If you want headphones better than these with less money, get the Superlux HD-668 and not these.
In my opinion:
Soundstage: 5/10
Imaging: 6/10
Frequency response: 5/10
Dynamic range: 5/10
For their cost, they are excellent. I mainly got them for use with an electric bass, where they covered me perfectly, something I didn't expect them to do so well. Music from the computer and games without any problems. They are definitely not the best, but I still say that for the money they cost, you get a very good build quality and a well-balanced sound. The cable is long enough with good quality. I have had them for 1.5 years+ and they haven't had any issues.
First of all, these headphones are for sound monitoring (all frequencies are balanced, without bass boost). Therefore, any average customer who does not intend to use them for music production, sound mixing, etc. will be disappointed when they realize that the bass is low. However, for the amateur/professional DJ/producer/sound specialist, these headphones are EXCELLENT. Excellent build quality, flat and 'honest' sound, perfect for accurate monitoring, at an extremely low price. I have been involved in music production and mixing for 3 years now, and these headphones have become the ultimate tool. I highly recommend them to anyone who wants clean and flat sound on a budget below 50 euros.
Very good headphones (Watch the video: https://youtu.be/Ph1a15L4-yQ). If you want to engage in amateur music or video editing, or simply want to listen to your music with more balanced frequencies, then you will love them! Plastic construction but not cheap plastic. The only negative is the length of the cable, which is about 3 meters.

High-quality headphones in terms of construction and sound performance, with a flat equalizer since they are reference monitors, but still satisfying bass. They are lightweight, comfortable, and can withstand cable pulls, etc. I have had them for 2 years and they have already endured quite a bit with my PC and bass amplifier, and they don't give in. In terms of isolation, they are quite good, although they are not noise-cancelling headphones. If they were a bit cheaper, they would be ideal since they don't even have a case, but still, for this price, I believe they are the best choice.
Fantastic headphones.
Don't think about it, there are no better ones for this money.
Indeed, the bass is not very strong, but it is real and sufficient for me.
Awesome warm sound.
Value for money!
I got them based on the ratings they had. The sound and bass are nice and full for me, who is not an audio expert. With the proper adjustment of the sound card, they perform excellently. They look very good in terms of quality for their price. I would buy them again.
September 2020. After long-term use, I only have good things to say. They are worth every euro and more, Excellent.
October 2023, The only signs of use are 3 small cracks on the leather of the ear cushions and the cable has slightly bent where it connects to the headphones. I only have good things to say about the headphones. They are durable, I have mistreated them to the point where I feel sorry for them, but they haven't suffered any damage.
Very good construction, although plastic, it is lightweight and very comfortable even after prolonged use. As for the sound, it is very balanced and clear, but it doesn't have a strong bass that some may not like.
Years of Sennheiser headphone user, they broke and I decided to try some other brands. The fakes only lasted 14 years :) and unfortunately, the model I had is no longer available.
I threw away several headphones before settling on this one. Honest for its price, incredibly lightweight for hours of use (computer programmer) and very good quality materials and sound.
The headphones are very lightweight. They have really good sound isolation. You can't hear anything except outside at 100% (EDIT: 22/9/17 Actually, you can hear at 100% but there must be absolute silence and you have to be close. Otherwise, it doesn't bother). The headphones, because they are lightweight, sacrifice their sturdiness without meaning that they are not durable. It's still the first day and let's hope nothing goes wrong. Audio Technica is one of the most reliable and high-quality companies. These headphones really caught me off guard. I was torn between these and the JVC Harx900 but I ended up choosing these because of the reviews regarding comfort. The headphones are indeed very comfortable and it may take a little time to get used to them. The sound is stunningly clear and detailed. For their price, they are a great value for money (Bought them for 48€). Now, if someone wants to have subwoofer headphones and wants crazy bass, these headphones may not satisfy them. Of course, there are alternative headphone solutions that have 50mm drivers. I would highly recommend these headphones for their price. Hopefully, in the future, I will be able to get the M40x or M50x because they are top-notch.
Of course, I would like to make a comparison with the JVC Harx900 because they seemed very good and worthy (if not better) than these. This, of course, is a hypothesis.
Bass for rock and metal is great.. for someone who wants pop-rap-trap or other genres that use a lot of bass, I do not recommend it.. However, I have only had them for a few days and if the bass improves, I will be very satisfied because they have pretty good clarity and clear resolution for monitoring..
The construction is average to good and the positive thing is that it even fits for larger heads.. (I wear an XXL helmet and they don't squeeze me at all!)
A first experience (since I only have one day of experience): Clean and rich sound, which becomes noticeable when the volume goes above average. I don't have much experience with headphones, but I am very demanding when it comes to sound quality, so I consider it to be quite above average and worth its money.
I got them for podcast monitoring. Overall, they are very good for their price and lightweight. Not ideal for those who want excessive bass, as they have a realistic sound (they are for monitoring), unless you have them on a mixer of course. Be careful because the cable from one speaker to the other is relatively unprotected. My ears generally get warm easily with over-ear headphones - these headphones are better than what I had so far, but still, I can't wear them continuously for many hours.
In conclusion: Excellent for entry-level monitoring or natural sound, not for bass lovers.
I couldn't have made a better choice among these headphones, the sound quality is very good, with the bass where it should be. They are very lightweight and don't tire you, which you can tell from their construction quality. In their price range, I don't think there are better options, as they easily compete with headphones priced at 90€+. The only negative is that the cable is not detachable and requires attention, but other than that, I highly recommend them!
I have them for 2 months now. I needed monitor headphones for music production. I'll start with the only negative I found: I think it lacks in very low frequencies, resulting in me giving more bass to a track than what I actually heard during the mix. Other than that, more than decent for its price, sturdy construction, very good isolation from external noise, comfortable (although they might become a bit tiring after two hours of use, but a short break keeps you going). The cushions seem durable (some others I had in the past started to wear out after a month). Lastly, and this might matter to some, it is sold in a high-quality packaging, which helps to keep them in good condition (especially if someone plans to resell them to get something more specialized).
Honest product with decent sound quality. The bass is missing but overall the sound is balanced and flat. Unfortunately, they are quite uncomfortable after a short period of use. They have hard cushions and put quite a bit of pressure on the head.
This is what I was looking for. Simply headphones, with good construction as it seems so far, that will withstand rough handling. Their cable is also thick and long.
The sound doesn't have much bass. In the beginning, when they were very new, they were somewhat tight, but they have loosened up over time.
When I first put them in my ears, I can say that I wasn't impressed, but after a week of using them, I can say that I am completely satisfied with my purchase. I wouldn't say it's the best experience on my head, I don't know, maybe it's because I wear glasses, but okay, after a one-minute break, I put them back on and they're fine. The sound is pretty good for my ears (I'm not anyone special), the bass is just right, not too loud. I consider it one of the best choices for their price.
I use these specific headphones for listening from my Hi-Fi system and not from a mobile or computer. Here, the sound and quality of a headphone are fully judged. If it can reproduce the sound as it should be and not colored. And these specific headphones achieve this to an excellent degree. Very good and not metallic high frequencies, natural voices, excellent bass that does not tire from booming. The sound flows natural and colorless. Exceptional performance if one does not use the bass settings of the amplifier.
The build quality, relative to their cost of course, is excellent. Very good plastic, metal reinforcement, a three (3) meter cable that personally suited me very well. The quality of the cushions is good and you don't sweat even after a few hours of listening.
Audio Technica is a completely reliable company and this is evident even in its cheap offerings like these headphones. Absolutely reliable, musical, and at an excellent price.
I recommend them without any reservations.
Greetings. I bought the headphones wanting something neutral in sound and I use them for music and movies. I haven't tried other monitors, but they seem quite powerful and well-made. Also noticeably good insulation from external sounds. No damage to the ear cushions with about 2 years of use, despite sweat. After 1-2 hours of use, depending on the head maybe, they start to become tiring from the pressure. Although I have the impression that at least at this price, this applies to all headphones of this type. I highly recommend them, very good for their price.
