Reviews

  • It has accuracy but is cumbersome and slow. High cost for what it offers, the Hioki is exceptionally more stable, has a significantly lower cost, and offers equally high accuracy and is made in Japan, while now Fluke assembles them in the USA but no one knows...... where they are manufactured!!!

This machine (I'm not saying it's a multimeter) has several issues. Mine got damaged and they never fixed the software. I don't know what everyone wants with Fluke these days. There are decent instruments available today with much less money, and they perform excellently in all aspects.

Do not be fooled by the name Fluke. This model is supposed to replace the almost legendary 189, but in practice, it is almost a complete failure. I don't know who at Fluke thought that turning a portable multimeter into a cumbersome computing platform adds value. Obviously, someone without experience in real laboratory use. Having used this multimeter (and its predecessor), I can clearly say that it is:
    Significantly slow to start (Linux?)
    Heavy and bulky
Several functions (such as the diode) require menu selection (!)

There is absolutely no (I dare say a little, but I honestly can't find anything positive) reason to buy this heavy, slow, and difficult-to-use multimeter. Compare it to the 30% cheaper Hioki DT4282 (which is slightly better even than the discontinued Fluke 189) and you will understand. Or read various reviews.

Fluke, get serious. Don't go the way of Weller because there will be no turning back.

The ultimate multimeter. Made in America. Solid construction, accurate measurements. Clearly aimed at professionals. There are countless measurement options, and the test leads and alligator clips included in the box are of excellent silicone construction. Although it is quite expensive, I believe that in terms of performance and price, it is worth its money.
