Description

Tropica substrate functions as a nutrient source for plants, ensuring healthy growth. It is a natural concentrate of clay and sphagnum, which is placed at the bottom of the gravel layer in the aquarium. The clay and sphagnum release nutrients to the plant roots and bind nutrients, reducing the risk of algae growth.

Use of Tropica plant substrate:

  • The substrate is placed in a layer 1 cm thick at the bottom of the aquarium.
  • The gravel is placed at least 3-4 cm thick over the substrate.
  • The plants are planted in the gravel and quickly form new roots in the substrate.
  • It is recommended not to stir the substrate during planting.
  • If the plants are removed, cut them at their base to avoid mixing the substrate with the water.
  • Plant roots that remain decompose quickly, providing nutrition to other plants.

Recommended amounts of Tropica plant substrate for typical aquarium sizes:

  • 25-liter aquarium = approximately 0.9 liters of substrate
  • 50-liter aquarium = approximately 1.2 liters of substrate
  • 65-liter aquarium = approximately 1.8 liters of substrate
  • 85-liter aquarium = approximately 2.45 liters of substrate
  • 125-liter aquarium = approximately 3.2 liters of substrate
  • 180-liter aquarium = approximately 4.0 liters of substrate
  • 250-liter aquarium = approximately 5.0 liters of substrate
