    I would say that this is a flavor expansion. The reason is that we are talking about new characters and slightly different gameplay!

    Specifically, for those who know the base game, the mages differ in the following ways:

    Instead of a shield, they have energy (mana) to enhance the explicit abilities of their action cards. They don't have a shield, but a similar mechanic called protection that lasts for one round. And finally, they have their own specialties. I consider it a bit expensive as an expansion and it may be overlooked compared to others.
