Its story is flawless from the very first moment, the characters, with few exceptions, are amazing, with the protagonists being Cloud and Aerith, all having a tremendous development, the relationships that form between them, all incredible. The villain is one of the best of all time, who has managed to make you fear him. The world is magical, both Midgar and the rest of its world. Its music is another masterpiece, Nobuo Uematsu is shocking already from the original game of 1997 and the pieces now with the new orchestration are on another level. For me, the game was one of the best experiences of my life, and yes, it truly was an experience of such a level, the only other universe that has captivated me this much is that of Star Wars (the first 6). In terms of gameplay, it is also amazing. For me, Final Fantasy 7 is the best video game of all time from every aspect, and generally one of the best stories. The game is worth every last euro, for me, clearly game of the year.

The combat is enjoyable and smooth, especially with the character synergies.I must say that now it gives time to all characters to see their own story and focus in a battle.
They added a gameplay for Aerith at a point in the story, I won't say which, but it was a nice touch because it gave something nice and fresh.They added the ability to craft wherever you want, with items, very useful, as you can make anything from equipment to potions without having to go back to refill.
The Folios, which is the ability tree of the characters, is also very useful, you can customize the playstyle of each character in the party as you wish.

All the characters, from the main ones to the villains, to the secondary villains, are incredibly interesting! The only downside is that I am extremely curious about how this adventure ends and I will have to wait a few more years to find out! Besides that, the gameplay is very entertaining (for me, it is the ideal mix of action and turn-based elements in a JRPG, allowing for strategy and perfect balance). Furthermore, it is an open world with classic elements and quests that reward you for helping to develop your relationship with the characters. I am at 75 hours and I probably have at least another 50 to complete all the things the game has to offer. As for the negatives, I consider some mini-games to be mandatory in order to progress the story, and the existence of so many of them can become tiresome at some point and disrupt the pacing. In terms of beauty, I played in graphic mode 30 and I can say that it was very beautiful... Overall, this is a game that is worth every Euro for what it offers and overall... AMAZING!

Did you find this review helpful?Having logged 161 hours (I literally did everything) I think it's a good time to write my opinion about the game.
I would like to remind you that I have also played the Original FFVII from 1997.
POSITIVES:
1) Finally, we move away from the linear first part and go for a more JRPG approach! The game world is enchanting. The vegetation, the mountains, and the cities are so beautiful that it will push you to explore. This is of course contributed by the visual aspect that is amazing, although there is a slight blurriness in some points (not so noticeable but if you are careful you will notice it) that I hope will be fixed in the next updates (mainly in performance).
2) I really liked the story (even though I knew it) and it satisfies both players who have experienced the Original and those who have not played it. We are talking about a story that touches around 40-50 hours (depending on whether you will engage with the rest of the side content). The story starts immediately after the events of the Remake. The Original had Optional areas, which could easily be skipped. In the Rebirth, everything is important, and takes the necessary time to develop both the game universe and the characters.
3) The characters are once again well-written. The evolution and relationship between them, their experiences, and desires are so well made that you can't help but bond with them. Of course, I cannot fail to mention that they managed to emphasize and give time to the optional characters of the Original FFVII, making them important for the story!
4) The game's side content is very decent! It has a bit of everything, such as battles (you locate monsters all over the map, even bosses, and defeat them), additional missions (some are repetitive, but they involve an evolution in the relationship between the characters), MANY mini-games [Queens Blood (a card game, perhaps the most addictive mini-game), Chocobo Race, gym, etc.]. Additionally, the game follows the classic recipe of going to a tower and detecting all the map markers. It may be cliché, but the game world absorbs you and pushes you to complete them.
5) The music of Rebirth is AMAZING. It continues with the same motif and is incredibly detailed in every scene and battle the player experiences. Beautiful implementation of the OG pieces and I cannot fail to mention the new ones they have added. To understand the level of detail, in one part of the game, they have made a combination of pieces that are completely day and night in terms of melody, and not only does it sound nice to the ear but it emotionally touches you.
6) The gameplay continues to be impressive as in the first game with minimal additions but also improvements to the already successful recipe. The alternations and explosions are so addictive that they do not tire at all! In boss fights, we have a greater variety, and with a magnificent scale, which in combination with the soundtrack, takes it a step further. Those who have played the Remake will not be disappointed!
7) I did not expect this and it is worth mentioning. The vibrations and scandals in the dualsense are very well executed (almost).
8) The game has a lot of endgame content (compared to the Remake). In fact, it is more difficult, but you discover different and (broken) tactics that you have never seen before.
NEGATIVES:
1) Narratively, the game has some imperfections. One of them is that it changes abruptly (from an epic battle it goes to something completely random), but I can justify it because that's the philosophy of JRPGs.
Also, I don't consider timelines a positive addition. Yes, they complement but at the same time confuse both old players and more new players. We will reach a point where the universe of FFVII will become kingdom hearts.
Finally, I didn't like the execution of certain scenes of the OG in Rebirth. What I mean is, I'm not the type to ask for a copy-paste.
As an old player, I liked the changes that the pivotal points have undergone but I don't think they fully reflect the feeling of the OG. It won't bother new players who will experience the game from the beginning but old players might feel a little bitterness.2) Sometimes the world design is poorly made. When you are in an open world and want to go to a specific place, you are not given just 1 option but many. Here, many times I was forced to make circles without reason. Let me give you an example.
In Rebirth you have a chocobo that helps you move around and not only (climbing etc etc). I am 3-5 meters above the ground and the mount didn't want to jump while it is a bird and I had to make circles. I could say I would jump from a mountain to say okay but here it doesn't make sense.3) Side quests are repetitive. They may offer you something different in the end but until you get there you do almost the same things that tire you.
4) Mini Games, while very nice as ideas, have a terrible difficulty (not all) either because the AI is inexplicably difficult or the controls are bad.
5) The game has excessive blah-blah (mainly annoyed me in the side content). Yes, it's a JRPG but try to make this verbosity interesting.
CONCLUSION:
Is FFVII REBIRTH worth it as a sequel? YES! It is superior to the first game! Those of you who have played the Remake and liked it, will not be disappointed. On the contrary, for those who didn't like it or consider the first game mediocre, it's better to think not once but not twice about the purchase. The aesthetics are the same, on a larger scale.
I had a great time with the game and I continue to have a GREAT time, and I don't regret a minute for the hours I have dedicated. One of the most quality remakes / re-imagines!

There are negatives, everyone knows them, the performance mode really affects the resolution, especially if you have a big screen I think the graphics mode at 30 fps is the way to go! I play on a 55 OLED, I quickly got used to it, it didn't ruin my experience! For those who give great importance to these things, it's better to wait for the PC release! One more thing that might bother some, is the many, too many mini games. Some are mandatory and others are not. Personally, I liked them to a great extent, they filled me with nostalgia and memories from the original FF7 but I agree that there could be fewer of them. Overall, as I said at the beginning, the game is very commendable, personally along with Elden Ring, I put it in the top 2 games I've played on the PS5. I'm not comparing them, I just liked both of them the same, each for its own reasons! That's it from me, good continuation.
