    Hello,
I bought the lens in February, just before the lockdown. I have it on my D750. I am a professional photojournalist. I also do landscape photography in my free time, so I have tested the lens everywhere.
For 2 years, I used the reliable but heavy Nikon 24-120 f/4. My setup with the SB700 flash and grip weighed over 2 kilograms (2.2 to be precise), and this was a big issue for my hand.
I went for the 35mm because the 50mm was too narrow for me, and in general, 50mm is a very uncomfortable focal length for the subjects I cover.
The construction is very high quality (although it doesn't appear so externally). It has fallen a few times and nothing happened to it. It doesn't have any moving parts externally (unlike the 50mm, which focused with the front element moving in and out, which doesn't happen here). Its autofocus is completely silent. It's not the fastest out there, but it's just right for a wide-angle prime lens. It even works surprisingly fast in live view photography. The lens has the same filter thread as the 50mm, which means that whatever filter one takes, the other takes as well. This is a huge plus, as with the same amount of money, you can buy a filter that works for 2 very basic lenses. In my case, I have a 58mm CPL filter from Hoya that truly makes beautiful shots even more beautiful.
The sharpness is very good at f/2.8, as well as color accuracy. Many claim that it's best at f/5.6, but they say that about every lens. It's like saying that birds fly. There is vignetting at f/1.8, f/2.8, and f/5.6, and if you remove it in Lightroom, you can see the difference, but personally, it doesn't bother me, and I almost never remove it. Distortion is not that much, I would say.
I have to say that overall, I am impressed with this lens. It is the sweet spot for those who want something less wide than 14mm (yes, 14mm) and something more than 50mm. I place it in between. The alternative would have been the 28mm, but it has more distortion. Since the day I got it, I left the 24-120 as a backup option in the drawer, the grip went into my bag, and the only thing I put on is the flash when I do that kind of work. It is permanently attached to my camera and accompanies me in work and fun. I jumped with it over Myrtos Beach in Kefalonia, and the images it produced are jaw-dropping.
Now I only work with 2 lenses: the 35mm and the 70-200mm. I also have the 50mm in my bag, but I rarely need it. Possibly, an 85mm and/or a 135mm would have been a better quality solution.
Overall, guys, this 35mm lens is the most underrated lens I have seen Nikon produce. It is worth every penny and more, and whoever gets it will believe in love at first sight (if they don't already).
    5 stars from me

Simply top-notch 35mm lens. Sharp, lightweight, fast.
The Sigma art 1.4 that I have tried is indeed very good but it has twice the weight and volume.
