I played it during the era of the 360, but with the dirt-cheap price, I played it again on the PS5. The game ages very nicely so far, it remains the best overall of the three in the reboot. The story is indescribable, it never takes predictable turns.
The graphics are beautiful for their time, both in terms of direction and gameplay, following the recipe of Uncharted, and it did well. It is another masterpiece.
The cinematography with which the title unfolds is fantastic, giving a new breath to the franchise and a special dynamic to the gameplay.
The difficulty is okay, the weapons feel good, and the bow is a nice addition.
I think anyone who hasn't played it and enjoys third-person action-adventure games is missing out, especially in 2023, especially with prices of €12 retail/€4 digital.
As a separate experience without carrying the title "Tomb Raider," it is a nice game to play. But this is not Lara, it has no resemblance to her at all. They managed to destroy an iconic character by making her cynical, boring, and without any interest...
The price I bought it for at 3€ is outrageous, I must say, during the summer sales! The graphics are not that great, however, it keeps you engaged, has a nice story, and overall, it is a game that I would recommend adding to your collection!
Excellent game of the Tomb Raider series of this generation. It is the first one I played and it captivated me compared to the next 2. Beautiful graphics that I didn't expect at 60 fps. Tombs, secrets, interesting plot/story/scenario. A very strong start. It's worth playing. Unfortunately, the new game plus option is missing. Played on PS5.
Let's start with the fact that the psstore puts it on sale for 3 euros every now and then, and I bought it for that price. The graphics were better than I expected due to its age and surprised me, I must say. It's a classic Tomb Raider with action, guns, etc.
Positives: Incredibly user-friendly and enjoyable gameplay, great graphics and very entertaining.
Negatives: Shallow story and uninteresting Tombs, which, for example, in Rise of the Tomb Raider, were the strong point of the game. It's worth even 10 euros for the game, even today
As I finished it on the ps3, I wanted this version as well because I believed it had something more to offer. And indeed it does!! Very nice graphics with occasional framedrops (ps4 slim) but it's a minor issue. It is definitely an upgrade from the ps3 version. The story is dark and quite long with twists. Although it takes place on an island, there are many changes in the environment and it doesn't get boring. A very good choice. It's worth it!!
Tomb Raider is a hidden gem, especially the Definitive edition for the new consoles, as it not only includes the DLC from the original game but also has polished graphics, upgraded 1080p resolution, and most importantly, runs with an unlocked framerate that is usually close to 60fps for the majority of the game, especially on the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. I completed it once on the Xbox 360 when it was first released and again on the PS4 after a few years, and I enjoyed it immensely.
The story progression is linear without any choices that determine its outcome, but it is far from boring. The intensity builds up at a steady pace, and every time you achieve something "big" in the game and think you're nearing the end, there is a major twist that changes the dynamics and presents new challenges to overcome. All the game's characters are appropriately designed for their roles, and the game introduces them in the right order and with the necessary gravity. Although the game's story is linear, its world is divided into "open world" sections, and you can stop the story's progression at any time to revisit an area you previously explored in order to collect salvage (in-game currency for equipment upgrades) and XP or discover secret collectible items and tombs! Another aspect that I liked about the game's story is the details added in the descriptions of the hidden objects you find, which help you piece together the events that took place in the game's setting in the past. This happens simultaneously with the story's progression in the present and creates a veil of mystery about what is true and what is myth, and how everything is connected. The only way to uncover it all is to play the game until the end.
The gameplay of the game is good, without anything groundbreaking. It is crafted as it should be for a third-person shooter game in my opinion, without any flaws or unnecessary additions that make it overly complex. It is highly entertaining and perfectly balanced with the plot, without anything that would distract you from the atmosphere and the mood of the story. The enemies provide a suitable level of challenge depending on the difficulty you choose, although they don't have anything particularly outstanding in terms of AI. Some may notice that the gameplay resembles that of Uncharted, but I believe it is more advanced in all aspects (e.g., the use of the bow, hand-to-hand combat, etc.). Finally, the only negative aspect is that sometimes, certain interactions with the environment can be a bit buggy, such as climbing buildings or cliffs, breaking obstacles, etc., but it never compromises the overall quality.
Lastly, the game's duration is relatively short if you are only interested in the story, around 12-15 hours, I would say. However, for a linear game of this scope, I believe it doesn't need to be longer, as it might become repetitive and tiresome afterwards. However, if someone wants, they can deal with the secondary objectives of the game to cover an even larger part of their time, such as upgrading equipment, discovering hidden objects, and discovering tombs (note: tombs in Tomb Raider are hidden small areas that you discover, for example a cave, in which there is a puzzle to solve and if you succeed, you are usually rewarded with a large amount of XP and salvage - and they are completely optional). The second time I played the game, I reached almost 100% by collecting all the hidden objects and all the tombs, and it took me around 25-30 hours.

I haven't dealt with Lara Croft in a long time and I can say that it surprised me excessively. A nice story without confusion in the plot so that you don't understand what's happening to you... Because you could say that you see it a little like a movie. The graphics are incredible and even more so in my eyes, which don't have the incredible screen capabilities, etc. The fact that they made the character of the heroine more human and down-to-earth than ever, I personally loved it. And I consider it a strong bonus that you have free play, after completion, in the levels you played, in order to find the treasures and objects you left behind during the story... But also with the regular soldiers for some action and not to replay the scenario from the beginning. On the contrary, it had some glitches type issues, but fortunately they were few and maybe due to my own elements like... console, DVD game, temperature, etc. Finally, imagine that if there was any other downside, it was such that it wasn't worth remembering at all. It is definitely an awesome game and value for money, as they say. Don't think about it... Get it!
It is a very good game with nice graphics, a nice story, and plenty of adventure. It is relatively easy and has many similarities with Uncharted, as the latter copied from Tomb Raider. So if you like it, it is good to prefer this one as well, you won't regret it. I didn't try the multiplayer, but I see many negative comments about it.
Very good game, my favorite Tomb Raider from the series. For the time it was released, it has nice graphics that still hold up today. The gameplay is awesome, with great shooting, plenty of action, and adventure. The story is a bit indifferent, and that's why I don't give it a 10!!! 9.5/10
For those who haven't played it, I will say the following: it is an adventure with an amazing story, the graphics are average but definitely not bad since it is a game from 2014. I had played it when it first came out on a previous generation console. The graphics were excellent! The gameplay is quite good, reminiscent of Uncharted, perhaps better in some aspects. Nice progression in the story with a lot of adventure. The effects, sound, etc. are amazing. It's worth it, get it, it's a shame it has dropped to this price and you're still considering it!
I think out of the three latest Tomb Raider games that have been released, this is the best given that the next ones came out later and we were expecting greater improvement. However, all three are very strong games and I recommend them to every gamer who enjoys action games. The difficulty level doesn't even come close to the old standards, the gameplay is easier, but it doesn't lose its beauty. Just one piece of advice, don't play it on the easiest level. Choose a slightly more difficult one... it will be more interesting.
Excellent game, the developers did an amazing job with the series reboot. I bought it for €5 from the PlayStation store and the graphics and environment are much better. Especially considering it was released in early 2013. A big positive is that the exploration is quite rewarding, both in terms of the story and gameplay aspects like upgrades and skills.
Negatives: Duration and difficulty (meaning that the combat was quite easy).
I didn't bother with the multiplayer, which I don't even know if it still works.
The closest thing to UNCHARTED! I thoroughly enjoyed it and at such a low price, I highly recommend it without hesitation! Satisfying single player, very good graphics (although Rise of the Tomb Raider has better ones, mainly because it was released in the previous generation) and great gameplay! That's it, buy it fearlessly!
One of the best timeless games, everything is good, didn't get bored, has great graphics, single player is awesome, only the multiplayer disappointed me, worth $30 but it's only $12!!!!!!!
First of all, I have to say that the game is definitely worth its price at the moment (around 15 euros). It reminds me a lot of Uncharted, taking many elements from it without it being obviously a bad thing. I haven't dealt with Tomb Raider games before, but what I saw from this one and what I was looking for in an adventure game exceeded my expectations. The game is old, but the graphics and environment are beautiful, the sound and audio are nice, the weapon handling in battle and the gameplay overall are flawless, and the story, combined with the action, captivates you. It's not long in duration, but it's satisfying if you want to find all its hidden elements.
The multiplayer is not something amazing, years have passed, but you can still find people playing. It's not as terrible as some describe it here. It's fine if you want to join and play team deathmatch mainly, it's a good way to pass the time.
Overall, it is highly recommended.
P.S.: When I talk about comparing it to Uncharted, I'm not referring to the story of the games, but as next-gen, where Naughty Dog took the big step first with the first Uncharted games and then Tomb Raider, as is the case with Rise of the Tomb Raider. This specific Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition came out much later than Uncharted on the PS3.
Very nice game, at the price it has now (15-20 euros) you definitely have to get it. Very good graphics, awesome gameplay... a great game.
The only negative thing is the multiplayer, which is really terrible. It gives you the impression that they only added multiplayer just to say that the game has multiplayer.

P.S: I see many people writing that Tomb Raider "resembles" Uncharted. Uncharted actually copied from the Tomb Raider series, not the other way around.
The first Tomb Raider was released in 1996... the first Uncharted in 2007!!!
For old TR fans, it may be disappointing.
Certainly, it is something different but it is worth the money and your time.
You will spend many enjoyable hours and it has a beautiful story.
For many, it will remind them of Uncharted.
I suggest you get it. It's a very good game with a very nice story. At the price it has, it's like giving it away for free. The multiplayer could be better though. Buy it!!!!

Amazing game, incredible graphics as they should be on a next-generation console (PS4) with an easy, in my opinion, handling and weapon switching system. The story pushes you to keep playing more and more, curious about what comes next. The areas where the game takes place are full of green and high mountains, allowing you to use the rope arrow. All of this, combined with its price, makes it a must-have in every console gamer's collection.
A truly value for money game for the PS4. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because of its not very long duration.. It only took me two days to complete it. Otherwise, a fantastic reboot of the franchise. It shows us how the heroine Lara Croft started her story as a tomb raider! Very enjoyable gameplay and beautiful graphics. The story captivates you quickly and flows so smoothly that you would want to follow every step of Lara's. Every gamer's teenage dream takes shape with the visual representation of her body, but at the same time, it adds a glow to the female power that our protagonist possesses and teaches how badass a female protagonist can be in the world of video games, apart from her sexuality. I highly recommend buying it and I dare to say that for its price, it is the best game you can buy right now, at least in the retail version. Go Lara!
Simply wonderful. Tremendous gameplay with incredible graphics. Cinematics, storyline, visuals, character performances, and music. Some elements stolen from Uncharted (not necessarily a bad thing though). Perhaps the best Tomb Raider.
