The position where the child faces forward seems to be the most pleasant for the child (at least in our case). It is a bit difficult to wash, however, the packaging includes two "drool pads" that go in the area where the child's mouth comes in contact when facing forward, which are very easy to attach and detach, and also very easy to wash. A product that is definitely worth its money!
