The Edifier R1280T comes with built-in tone control on the side of the speaker. Depending on your preference, you can make minor adjustments to the treble and bass from -6 to +6 db. The digital volume control automatically adjusts to a comfortable level every time the speakers are powered on.
The R1280T speakers allow you to connect to multiple audio devices using the dual RCA inputs. A glance at the back of the speaker easily reveals that one of them is a passive speaker and the other is an active speaker. The active speaker has two inputs located on the back. My brother bought them and I decided to get them too because I was using the monitor's speakers. They are the best computer speakers at this price and they are loud enough for a party at home, tested. If you want something affordable with quality and volume, at this price it's a no-brainer.
I bought these speakers as an upgrade from the Logitech Z313. For their price, these speakers are amazing. The sound quality is comparable to speakers that cost 2-3 times the price, and the bass was what surprised me the most as it has a lot despite not having a Sub-Woofer. I recommend it to anyone looking for good speakers at good prices
Great speakers and you can have them on full volume all day without any problems. When you turn the bass up to the maximum, the sound decreases in order to produce the extra bass. For home use, that is, listening to music with good sound quality, it is just what you need and you won't need to turn up the bass to the maximum because it is very good and quite full.
Excellent for their price. I have connected them to a Focusrite Scarlett Solo DAC and they are flawless. No noise at all.
The headphones are great, but what's the point? When all of this is ruined by the tragic "ssss - hissing sound" they make, permanently. Obviously, I changed plugs, cables, and input methods, thinking that an external factor was affecting them, and still the same. I even tried them in other houses, in case it was a ground loop. Same thing. It's obvious that they are cheap D-Class Amps... Come on, Edifier.
As soon as they turn on, they make this sound, even if they are not connected anywhere. Increasing the volume makes the hissing worse, to the point where it can be heard over songs. Okay, they are active speakers, you expect a subtle hissing from the tweeters, but not this mess.
The worst thing I ever bought... Money wasted on something that someone would have in an office with a computer, as it is right in front of you and the sound becomes incredibly annoying. I will never touch Edifier with such cheap electronics again.
As a comparison, the Logitech Z333 that I have had for 6 years, while the headphones may be mediocre and clearly inferior to the 1280T, they don't produce the slightest noise and play flawlessly. It's a shame because I thought Edifier was a reputable company.
Starting by mentioning that I have had these speakers for 3.5 years in my office and I use them daily for 2-6 hours. I got the white version, but since they are made of wood, they don't have issues with fading and such.
Additionally, I would like to mention that this is the second time I purchase an Edifier product, after the previous and more humble "Edifier R12U" which lasted for about 2.5 years (back then they cost 15€). I chose bookshelf speakers because I had previously used different speaker sets (2.1, 5.1) with a woofer, and I didn't want to focus on the bass or deal with multiple cables scattered around the room. I wanted balanced 2.0 speakers for all purposes. After some research, I chose these ones.
They are ideal for the office and have a very reasonable size. They have a nice and clear sound that can be adjusted with the bass and treble switches to suit your preferences. Additionally, in terms of volume, they are perfect for a room of around 12 square meters, considering they are used in an office. They are quite powerful and don't distort at high volumes.
Mainly, I listen to music and use them for everyday tasks like watching videos and occasionally gaming or watching movies.
I'm not an expert in music, so I can't go into details known by those who are involved in it. However, as a regular user who has changed 4-5 speaker sets in the 15 years I've had a personal computer, including 2.1 and 5.1 speakers in the corresponding price range, these speakers are much better than all the previous ones for my own uses and requirements. It's clear that the sound quality improves with higher investments and making the right choices. But these speakers are aimed at general use, and in that regard, they are very commendable.
Now, I should add that I chose this version back then and not the Bluetooth one because I didn't have any requirements or need for wireless speaker connection at that time. However, due to the PS5, I bought the "TP-LINK HA100 v1 Bluetooth 4.1 Receiver" along with the "Ugreen USB Wireless Bluetooth 5.0 Adapter" (since the PS5 doesn't accept wireless audio devices other than its own) and I can easily do my job.
It has 2 pairs of RCA connectors, one of which I use to connect to the PC and the other for the receiver.
Finally, these speakers are definitely worth it for what they offer. When I bought them 3.5 years ago, they cost around 65€-70€, and they were an amazing value for money, as well as their Bluetooth version which was around 100€ (also very good). I definitely recommend them for anyone who wants to use them daily, listen to their music clearly, occasionally at high volumes, and also for gaming or watching movies, keeping in mind that they are intended for a room. If you want Bluetooth, you can check out their corresponding version with Bluetooth (R1280DB) which also has optical and coaxial inputs.
*Note: Since they have a power switch, I turn them off when I don't need them and they are rarely left on, only if I forget.
I write the review after selling them! I had them for almost 4 years! Without giving them much gas with daily use on TV and PC in a small living room of about 20 square meters, they were more than enough for all uses! Maybe I wanted a little more intensity when I turned them up to the maximum, but they didn't distort the sound nor did I have them on at full blast for a long time! They don't lack bass, but they won't make the windows rattle to the point where you hear noise instead of music! It would be good for someone to listen to them before buying them! Will someone ask me why I sold them? I gave them away and bought Edifier again, just for a change!
Purchase at 100 euros for replacement of the Creative GigaWorks T40 Series II, which after some years gave up. I bought them exclusively for use on PC mainly for music and secondly for gaming.
Compared to the Creative, there is no comparison at all, they are clearly much superior. In general, they have a warm and clean sound, which for my taste, however, the out of the box sound did not impress me. With a few adjustments to the treble & bass of the speakers, it came much closer to my liking. With some extra fine-tuning on the sound card's EQ, I think I now have them exactly where I want them based on what they can offer.
In general, they have a decent sound, but those who love intense bass may feel like something is missing... In my case, it doesn't bother me as I highly appreciate their clarity and warm sound, and the bass they produce suits me.
Certainly, for the purpose I bought them for and compared to my previous speakers, I am very satisfied, especially considering that they are in the same price range as the Creative GigaWorks T40 Series II that they replaced.
There are definitely many speaker sets with better sound out there, but I doubt if someone can find something better at this price if they want a clean, warm sound without feeling the bass in their chest. I consider them an excellent value for money choice, and if you find them in any offer for 75 euros that appears from time to time, you might feel like you stole from the church... AS LONG as you dedicate some time to set them up.

Before I start the review, things you should know about me and my standards in sound are that I love a flat, big sound, not too much bass, no various effects, just a flat sound.
For 100€, these are the most impressive speakers I have ever heard. The build quality is amazing, sturdy and beautiful speakers, with nicely combined materials. The knobs for adjusting the bass, treble, and volume are very high-quality and incredibly easy to install. You won't believe how big the sound is and how well it is reproduced in these speakers, considering their small size.
Now that I have mentioned the basic characteristics, let's move on to the detailed sound description. The bass, due to displacing the air from the front, can be felt directly in your chest. It is clean, although it becomes slightly muddy around 130-150Hz. I can't find the right balance when adjusting it with the bass knob. If I lower it, there is no bass at all, and if I boost it, it sounds muddy in the mentioned frequencies. Overall, the bass is very good and doesn't distort even when the speakers are playing at maximum volume. The mid and high frequencies are quite flat and clear, and depending on the room where you place them, you can adjust them to always sound clean. In general, the frequency response of the speakers performs according to the room, but they always sound very full and clear.
General rating for each quality, in my opinion, is:

Overall impression and what you will see:
These are not speakers for sound mixing, but they are enjoyable to listen to music, especially considering their size. You won't believe that they produce such high-quality sound and volume for their price of 100€.
Let me add my experience as well.
Obviously, the many positive reviews played a big role in their selection, and I consider them decent for the price category (75€).
Firstly, they are really beautiful in appearance, elegant, and suitable for many spaces, even on a desk where I have them.
The build quality is really good, you can feel the center of the volume controls, for example, with the touch, they have weight, etc.
As for the sound, they don't blow your mind, especially out of the box. Personally, I connected them to a SoundBlaster Audigy FX, with some settings and EQ, and they improved a lot. They are not TRAGICALLY far from PC speakers like Z333, etc., but they definitely don't disappoint. The bass is present, but if you are used to a subwoofer, you can tell the difference. Edifier claims they reach 75hz+, but from my testing, I saw that they hit around 55-60.
In terms of price, I think you pay for the materials and the higher quality rather than the acoustic result.
They still remain a value-for-money choice, though, and I will recommend them as well.
Extremely good for their price. Very good and clean sound. They don't distort even at maximum volume. I have connected them to an AT turntable and I am very satisfied. The only thing that disappointed me was that the cable connecting the speakers was missing from the package, even though it was stated that it was included.
(For using music in the office above) Ultimate value for money and in terms of construction and sound quality (at this price always). It is quite bass heavy, personally I corrected this through EQ on the computer. Good volume and their bass is full and fast. They don't have very clear vocals and lack a bit in the mids, but I am satisfied. They can be greatly improved with proper use of EQ. Either way, I highly recommend them at this price. (Purchased for 57.90 euros/I'm not sure if I would have paid 75.90 of course (price on Scroutz at the time I wrote the review))
For office speakers, they are excellent, especially at the price of 57€ due to Black Friday, I bought them for 75€ and I don't regret it at all.
Very clean sound and decent subwoofer, for their price always, plus they are also very visually and qualitatively appealing.
Fair and square, they are very good for their money!
It's not a monitor but a multimedia speaker, which means they don't have a flat sound but emphasized bass to entertain the listener! They comfortably fill a space of 20 square meters, maybe even more, and they don't distort at high volume while still having a good amount of boom!
Compared to classic computer speakers in the same price range, they are clearly better and infinitely more beautiful!

Speakers with a slightly correct placement, decent sound and a little tweaking with the EQ (either the dials or, for example, an APO equalizer) are very honest.
As for their price, they are perhaps the best 2.0 speakers one can find. Now, compared to pairs that cost 200 and 400(!) euros that you see in some reviews, yes, I am very pleased, but here we are talking about prices that can drop below 60 euros with a little searching/patience...
Very nice construction, very nice sound and volume. With a little modification with some equalization, it is perfect. Excellent value for money.
They are worth their money, let's start from there.
They won't impress, they are not for large spaces, but they offer better sound quality than many alternatives.
Treble: Out of the box, they sound muffled with the highs pulled back. With the help of the dial on the side, you can increase the treble to +2, allowing the tweeter to work and bring the highs and the upper half of the midrange forward, making the vocals more direct and clear.
Mids: Out of the box, they are dark. You can hardly hear them. By increasing the treble dial to 2, they come forward and sound full.
Bass: Out of the box, it is non-existent. Here, the initial configuration and the fact that the cone driver is very small and without much rubber around it to make a large displacement play a role (you hear the bass based on the air that the speaker moves towards you. Smaller speaker diameter = the speaker needs to move back and forth more to move the same volume of air). We turn the bass dial to +4. The bass is now noticeable, but we are still talking about the upper range of low frequencies. The speaker is small, so it cannot go very low in frequency. You will feel the "thump" but it won't shake your chest.
Build quality: Very good. Solid construction, no creaking, the grills are of very good quality and aesthetics.
Remote control: Small, you will lose it within the first week. If you don't lose it, it is convenient. The negative aspect is that you cannot control the EQ through the remote control.
Well, the speakers are proportionally satisfactory in terms of their price, as is the case with any product we buy for a medium-sized room. They have clear midrange, high frequencies, and deep bass for their size. I have them connected to an external sound card and they play crystal clear even at 100% volume. In terms of build quality, they are amazing. I think they are the best 2.0 speakers someone can buy for their price.

First day of purchase 5-5-2021.
I come from the Logitec Z555 system initially. Out of curiosity, I got these specific ones. The Z555s naturally have plenty of bass. That's it. From there onwards, the Edifiers do the job. I tried them on my laptop, for the reason I got them, on SACD and turntable. I heard frequencies that I didn't hear from the Z555s. Excellent sound quality, tight bass, wonderful highs.
On 7-5-2021, I connected them to the Sound Blaster Play 3 sound card, which costs 20 euros and had very good reviews that I had read. The speakers transformed until, in my opinion, they couldn't get any better. The volume increased, the highs became velvety, and the bass clearly upgraded... wonderful...!!
On 9-5-2021, I downloaded the "broken" Isotek Full System Enhancer CD and played it at moderate volume for about an hour, connecting the poles in reverse on one speaker (R) and vice versa. (Read about it and you'll understand what it does.) About 2-3 points gap between them, to avoid interference from different sounds, from various frequencies, across the entire audio spectrum... 0-20Khz.

Extreme transformation to a higher level..! My ears have been blown away.. nothing else.
P.S... For the record, I am a HiFi enthusiast with experience even with tube systems. The Edifiers have fantastic sound for their price, very high quality.
I can't have such a good opinion about the quality because I come from a terrible 2.1 set.
The use is for music and voice calls on a computer.
They have satisfied me and more in performance and design!
I have had them for almost a year now and have made several tests, different spaces with dac sound cards, etc.
Certainly, on a desk and close to a wall, they are not given the space they need and the relative distance between them.
The only thing for sure is that they have good construction and perform better in movies and games than in music, they do not have the fidelity that some want in music without coloration.
There is an issue with the low frequencies which are uncontrollable excessive and without control. I concluded that in order to make use of them, they need to be accompanied by at least a sound card in order to be transformed and give the best possible result. With a cheap Sound Blaster Play 3, they matched extremely well and fixed several problems such as the low frequency. Better and tighter low frequency, developed sound, better stage, body, and clarity plus intensity. In a 20+ square meter room, they sound decent. If someone does not want to spend more euros than the money they ask for and does not have many demands, they will be satisfied. If you want something more, try adding a cheap sound card, it's worth it.
At €62, it's simply a decent choice.

Extremely good speakers for PC (music, games, etc). They are really what you need if you are not the super "audiophile" and want flawless professional sound. For music lovers, they are great with very good bass and highs quality. In terms of volume, they are more than enough for home use, and they easily handle parties. I recommend them without hesitation, much better than a 2.1 set at the same price. They also have a very nice design with high-quality construction. 5/5.
In the package it says book shelf speakers (fifth photo), very illuminating although somewhat conservative placement by Edifier. I mention this because in terms of bass performance, the comparison that many make with 2.1 systems is unfair, as they usually have a separate and usually large subwoofer, while these here have built-in 4-inch speakers.
However, if we compare the overall sound performance (especially up to 100 euros), the 2.1 systems are miles behind.
I have tried two Logitech 2.1 systems and my conclusion is that 2.1 systems have more bass, but that's where it ends. These are for users who want crystal clear sound, with realistic performance, across the entire audio spectrum (highs, mids, and lows). If you want bass like hip hop, then yes, choose a 2.1 system.
To be precise, it's not that these won't give you bass. It's just that you won't get the excessive bass that a separate subwoofer would provide.
As for the rest; I listen to music and hear sounds that I didn't hear before. Literally a new audio experience.
In terms of build quality: another level. They have MDF on the outside (even the white ones!!). The speakers, apart from being elegant, are also sturdy, they really have weight. No comparison to the plastic ones that are out there.
In terms of space, you reduce the objects from 4 (which a classic 2.1 system has) to two speakers, which, however, have volume (first photo). Perfect for my workspace, which is 1.60x80.
They consist of 2 speakers, 1 active and 1 passive. They have 21 x2 watts, a total of 42 watts RMS performance. On the side of the active speaker, there are rotary controls (second photo) for adjusting treble, bass, and master volume (in most 2.1 systems, you can only adjust bass and volume). They also come with a remote control (fourth photo) for volume adjustment and mute, and they have the ability to accept a second audio source via dual RCA (third photo), so they can play separately from two sources or even simultaneously.
Overall, they are beautiful and high-quality. They also have no hiss sound at all (I had it in both Logitech systems I had).
They are a great value-for-money choice that, at the price of 65 euros, simply has no competitor. They easily fill a space of 20-25 square meters (acoustically). And when you sit in front of them on your desk... I don't even need to discuss it, they are wonderful.
If I had the ability to change something, it would be the position of the On/off switch. It should be somewhere on the side of the active speaker, not on the back (third photo).

It's okay for the money, but the 42 watts are not enough, especially if the piece is written low, then you terminate it and still the volume is not enough. It's okay for a second economical speaker for YouTube movies, etc., but if you want to enjoy music, it's not sufficient. The issue is not in the resolution (which is expected for this money) but in the balance between lows, mids, and highs. The low-mids are boosted, resulting in a boxy sound, and the mids and mid-highs are completely weakened. It somewhat improves if you run an equalizer. In appearance, it looks very nice!
I got them for around 69 euros including shipping for an upgrade coming from the Logitech X-230 2.1, but in the end they turned out worse. They have higher volume, but in terms of bass, midrange, and treble quality, they are quite worse. They may be one of the most affordable self-powered speakers, but they have such a flat sound that you miss out on a lot.
I can't understand why there are so many good reviews. It's better to go for 2.1 computer speakers, but it's better to have listened to them before buying them and not based solely on reviews, because everyone's ear is different.
Furniture really enhances your space. Coming from Logitech z523, they make a big difference. The sound is very high-quality and powerful, with adjustable settings for all preferences. Don't think twice about their value for money.
I use them as "hi-fi" for cassette players and turntables. They are definitely not for demanding individuals in terms of sound quality. They are quite colored in the low frequencies. I suppose this was done to cater to the average user so they can enjoy the music they listen to. I also included a picture with the settings I have in order to match the sound (quite satisfactorily) with the sound produced by my monitors (JBL - LSR305).
Additionally, the remote control is a great help. For example, if you're cooking and the phone rings, you can simply mute the speakers with a button press.
Specifically, they are suitable for:
1) Listening to music at home even at higher volumes (distortion starts at maximum volume)
2) Computer speakers
3) Watching movies
4) With some entry-level adjustments for hi-fi.
They are NOT suitable for:
1) Party speakers
2) High-end sound
I mainly bought the speakers for music and for use as studio monitors. They have very good sound quality and the knobs help me reduce bass boosts to have a more accurate sound in production. Beautiful design, good sound quality even at high volumes, easy to use and set up, excellent delivery process and very fast. Very good value for their money, highly recommended.
