We had the same problem with the designs peeling off. We threw them away as they are not safe for the child. Surely, the temperature of the food or the microwave oven is to blame, but it is supposed to be suitable. For my second child, I will buy a different brand.
We bought bowls, cups, 4 spoons, and this little plate from the same series. They are very beautiful and I consider their bamboo fiber material to be very good for a baby. In terms of shape and size, they all suited us very well. However, while they claim to be dishwasher and microwave safe with some caution, *very* quickly their designs started to crack (as if the varnish had swollen) and peel off in the bowl and plate, or simply fade on the spoons. The spoons have the design on the handle, so at least they continue to be safe for use, but we threw away the plate and bowl, obviously you don't want varnish flakes in your child's food. As if by magic, the cup has not been altered in the slightest, even though it has been used more than anything else and goes in the dishwasher every day for a year. Therefore, I conclude that the temperature of the food, which I did not take care to cool before putting it in the plate/bowl, and the friction with our hands on the spoons, probably caused the issues with the others.
