This disk is used in a 10-year-old computer for file backup. It is very fast for this task and is not audible because the machine I have is not silent. As I said when I bought it, it is not audible because my computer is old and the fans can be heard, so I have no issue with noise. Generally, I have never had a problem with Seagate hard drives. Of course, there are models that are not as good from time to time. Always look for problems that they may have had in others. I would buy it again. Although now I think I would get a larger one.
