Incredible shoe for trail running and generally on dirt....I have run with the Mafate 3 and 4...I would recommend a size larger...of course, everyone's experience with how the shoe fits on their foot is different....the prices for mountain shoes are a bit steep in general...happy running!!!

Incredible shock absorption and they decided to tear on the side from contact with a rock... the sole still had life left, but I decided to "retire" them with honors..

The best trail shoe from HOKA in my opinion, having trained and competed with its cousin, the Speedgoat. There is no comparison between the two, the Mafate is several steps above. It has incredibly better foot lockdown, a thicker tongue and not paper-thin like the SG, and overall it is a shoe that will take you through all terrains.
