I have been the owner of this specific product for almost a year now. As I read in other reviews, I am also very bothered by the mechanism of the micro-metric fastening on the neck and specifically on the throat. The air that the central air duct puts in the chin is not enough for anyone, to the point where I think it is clogged. Other than that, it is a good helmet compared to the corresponding Chinese or European ones, but the quality of the materials has nothing to do with the older 1100 that I used to steal from my father. This year I will seek quality and safety in an Arai Quantic
Very good quality of materials, assembly, and excellent aerodynamics. With a short windscreen, the naked motorcycle will obviously be noisy and will need earplugs on long rides, but compared to my old Xlite, it is quite quieter. In the first few days, the helmet will be quite tight, but over time it adjusts and takes the shape of the head. Mine adjusted after a month of daily use and the first wash.
Something very important is that spare parts for the helmet are available on Shoei's official website. Whatever breaks, you can find it there, unlike Nolan, where you depend on the terrible distribution network in Greece.
In terms of ventilation, it performs excellently. You can feel the difference with the air vents open. As for the negatives, I would mention the fogging of the smoked visor and the quite expensive Bluetooth system.
For city use, I would choose a more economical helmet and keep this one for long rides or trips.
I give it 1 star to draw your attention to read the comment. Otherwise, I would have given more stars because it is an excellent helmet but it lacks in other areas!
While it is a very good helmet, it has the disadvantage that for people like me who weigh more (1.80 120kg), the strap that fastens under the chin closes with difficulty, resulting in me not being able to swallow well while wearing it. The strap is very short and not durable. Maybe if I lose weight, it will fit better, but for now, it's not for me. I don't have a big head, I bought a large size, but it bothers my chin and I am surprised that Shoei did not anticipate this. I assume that because the Japanese and Chinese have petite characteristics, it was intended for the Asian market and they did not foresee us since we are a small audience for them. For slim or regular-sized people, it is perfect, but always try it before buying.
The helmet is excellent in everything.... I have tried many Shoei helmets but this one here is perfect. Worn with Ducati 1200 Enuuro and speeds of 170+ on the highway and with wind, the helmet is incredible..... Those who say that the helmet is noisy, better leave the motorcycle and get a car!!
Everything is good but when it comes to noise, I expected a lot more from a helmet that costs 510€....
For a trip without the large visor or the additional small window, earplugs are needed.
Before this, I had the nxr, this helmet is on another level, both in terms of noise level and feeling, you feel like you're not wearing a helmet, the ventilation is so good that I really feel like I'm not wearing a helmet.
The glasses, on the other hand, are the most convenient thing because you don't need to clean them constantly like regular ones because they are hidden and don't create scratches or fingerprints like regular glasses.
The helmet is worth 100% of its money, it is very comfortable and has an incredible feeling. (I use it on an upright on-off motorcycle)
SHOEI truly excelled with the GT AIR II, with even better design and the addition of an integrated sunvisor compared to the I. I wouldn't trade the Japanese helmet for anything!
Previous helmet was the XR1100.
And for those of you who are stingy when it comes to purchases, like a "good" and "cheap" helmet, my friend, sit down and wonder how much your head is worth, because the Japanese helmet saved my life when I needed it, and I don't cry over any money when it comes to my life!
The helmet is not just a "purchase," but a safety investment so you can ride the motorcycle you love.
My previous helmet was not Shoei. I had seen comparative tests on the internet and during the pandemic, I took the risk and bought this helmet following the store's instructions. The helmet has the same weight as the previous one but due to its aerodynamics, it doesn't tire me out as much on long trips. It is extremely quiet and when it's raining, it has this clever feature with a slightly open visor that allows you to continue without fogging up. Lastly, it has very good ventilation compared to the previous one, which was also not a coincidence. I believe it is a very good purchase.
I got it in gray because there simply wasn't any other color available in my size, but the more I have it, the more I like it.
Coming from the 1100, I can say that I am disappointed. Lower quality plastics with a terrible problem with the pinlock pins, it's a joke. Already, two of them have broken, including the spare ones, and the additional representative gave me two more that don't fit perfectly, and they come off every time I open or close the visor. There is also a problem with the pinlock visor, it gets foggy because of the pins. Additionally, the ventilation is terrible compared to the 1100. I wouldn't buy this model with what I see now
Guys, the helmet is amazing. You turn your head at 130 and you don't feel anything. It's perfect for a naked bike. It becomes one with your head and there's no difference whether you're going at 50 or 150. It has perfect aerodynamics
The helmet is very good but I have a problem when wearing it for a long time on trips. When I bought it, I wore it in the store for half an hour and it didn't press anywhere. On city routes and short trips up to one and a half to two hours, no problem. From there on, a slight pain starts on the cheeks that gradually becomes unbearable, and in half an hour it is impossible to continue and I have to stop and take it off. I made a change with a friend who has an hjc. I took out the sponges, pressed the layer below with a spoon to open it a little (it is the layer that has the ability to deform in case of impact) but still nothing. If I hadn't tried it for so long, I would have thought that I was at fault during the purchase, but this is not true because it hurts after a long time on my trips. It's a shame because otherwise it is a very good helmet but quite heavy.
Very good helmet. Expensive but worth the money. The inner glasses help a lot on sunny days. The visor locks very well. The top ventilation does a good job while the front one not so much. Lightweight helmet without tiring you on long trips.
For anyone who has the money, without a doubt, it is a flawless helmet.....
As for external noise, it offers incredible insulation, as well as in combination with an intercom device, up to a certain speed (about 120 km) it sounds as if someone is speaking to you from another room.
Maximum ergonomics from its aerodynamic design to how convenient it is to clean (we're talking about 4 buttons and the whole thing comes apart). Also, removing the visor is child's play.
The quality is excellent (I would recommend a glossy rather than matte color due to potential scratches that may ruin the color, however, if you are careful and don't give up on it, there won't be any problem).
The ventilation is very good.
The sun visor is amazing, providing stability if you want to have the main visor of the helmet open on a particular route.
I have been using this helmet for 1.5 years. I don't regret it at all, not even a bit, for the money I spent.
Excellent in everything ..
The only issue is that it has a small opening and when you try to put it on, it's quite difficult even if you have chosen the right size.
I have the blue one which is also beautiful, size M.
If it didn't have the small opening, it would be perfect
Very beautiful helmet with excellent visibility and a very good buckle. Good ventilation, perfect SunVision, and relatively quiet. I hope I don't have to test it in a crash test, but I believe it is a very safe and reliable helmet like the XR 1100 that I had and it truly saved me. Don't hesitate to spend the money, it's worth it.
I bought it 2 years ago for 499. And if I have traveled with it. It's Japanese, what can we do, especially Shoei. Now I chose the GT Air 2 because it is compatible with Sena accessories exclusively for this. I don't like the accessories to stand out. When the years pass and before the model is discontinued, I will get another one until the end
Former owner of Gt-Air I. It's day and night, I was riding in 37C and my head didn't sweat. Quiet and lightweight helmet with the Shoei guarantee. Take it with closed eyes, it is a reliable choice for your protection.
Replaced a €90 mt targo. My ears were relieved from the noise. Now I only hear the wind and not the hurricane from the air swirl.
The blue color is beautiful. Perfect visibility. The sun visor opens and closes easily with a sliding switch.
And in my previous helmets, I wore size L just like in this one.
Time will tell the quality or not, of course.
But I, for one, will not buy mt or other cheap ones again.
I ride a Versys 650 and I go on the highway every day because of work.
Amazing... I don't have much to say, the best helmet I have ever worn, comfortable, lightweight, high-quality materials, and above all, silent. I closed the visor and all outside noises were blocked. Truly a very good helmet. Expensive, but yes, it's worth its money.
It is incredibly worth it.
Perfect lightweight glass with a matte finish.
Impeccable.
