Summer in the picturesque fishing village of Fjällbacka flows peacefully until a phone call disrupts the summer relaxation of Inspector Patrick Hedström. A boy has discovered the body of a naked woman in the King's Ravine, and Patrick is forced to cut short his leave, leaving his beloved Erica alone, who is expecting their first child. 

Rushing to the scene, the inspector and his team find that the woman has been murdered. The mystery deepens even further when they discover that beneath the body of this woman are the skeletons of two women who have been missing since the late 1970s…
