The maximum size of soft branch it managed to cut is about the thickness of a normal finger. Always with a lubricated blade before pruning, then cleaning the blade, a little oil again, and storage.   It was a revelation for me as a woman who had never used anything similar before. I watched a video on YouTube mainly to understand the motion I needed to use to trim the angelica bushes, which were quite tall at around 2.5 meters. It is completely safe as it requires holding it with both hands to activate it, and I didn't need to exert any force. It easily cut small branches without pressure, doing a professional job.
