The Asus ROG STRIX B760-I GAMING WIFI motherboard is aimed at users looking for a small-sized motherboard with a plethora of features and functionalities, mainly for intensive gaming tasks. It has a mini-ITX form factor, supports the latest Intel processors, supports PCIe 4.0 for fast data transfer speeds, has built-in WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2, as well as features such as RGB lighting and support for Asus Aura Sync software.
DDR5 Memory
ROG has a long tradition of delivering the fastest memory performance, and DDR5 is no exception. Thanks to improved signal routing, enthusiast-grade kits have now far surpassed 7 GT/s on the Strix B760-I, and who knows how far future DIMMs can go?
Experienced users can test their limits by playing with the extensive range of tuning options in the UEFI.
VRM Heatsink
The power solution is covered by two thick heatsinks with strategically placed airflow channels for increased heat dissipation when powering high-performance 13th generation Intel processors.
M.2 Cooling
A large heatsink covers the front NVME SSD slot to keep your drive at optimal temperatures for consistent performance and reliability.
Additional mass is located under the slot to handle the thermal load of high-performance M.2 units.
PCIe Performance
The x16 expansion slot is future-ready with incredible PCIe 5.0 bandwidth and is protected with a SafeSlot retention bracket to support most of the latest graphics cards. High-speed storage comes thanks to the pair of PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots, one under the heatsink on the front side and the other mounted on the back for space-saving.
Network Connection
The built-in WiFi 6E technology leverages the new available spectrum in the 6 GHz band to provide up to seven 160 MHz channels for ultra-fast performance and better performance in dense wireless environments.
The antenna features two integrated transmitters and receivers to enable faster transmission speeds and supports the 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz bands.
Low-latency gaming, fast file transfers, and high-resolution video streaming are among the many advantages of the built-in Intel 2.5 Gbps Ethernet.
USB Ports
The Strix B760-I features multiple high-speed USB options. Five of the rear input/output ports are compatible with USB 3.2, with the fastest being a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C port for data transfers up to 20 Gbps. A case port can also receive turbo processing via the front USB Gen 3.2 Gen 2 connector.
ROG SupremeFX
ROG SupremeFX is a unique combination of hardware and software technologies that provide superior sound. The implementation of the Strix B760-I features the S1220A codec for high-resolution playback up to 32-bit/192 kHz on all channels. The front output is transmitted through the integrated Savitech amplifier, which can drive high-fidelity audio to a wide range of speakers and headphones.
Armoury Crate
Armoury Crate is a software utility designed to provide you with centralized control of supported gaming products, making it easy to set up the appearance and atmosphere of your system. From a single intuitive interface, Armoury Crate helps you customize RGB lighting and effects for compatible devices and synchronize them with Aura Sync to create a unified lighting system throughout your setup. Additionally, Armoury Crate's Fan Xpert4 tool provides comprehensive control over fans, water pumps, and all-in-one (AIO) coolers.
You can use Armoury Crate to download drivers, tools, and user manuals, and to register products. It also features a dedicated news feed that connects you to ASUS's global gaming community.
Specifications are collected from official manufacturer websites. Please verify the specifications before proceeding with your final purchase. If you notice any problem you can
report it here.
It was used to build an ITX PC for basic office tasks, but...
1) Sometimes it would work with AutoCAD,
2) Sometimes it would work with Photoshop and Premiere,
3) Sometimes it would work with SolidWorks....
4) ...but it would never be used for gaming!
Therefore, the "WorkHandler 2K ITX" was chosen, which I have all the parts for in my profile and you can also see a video of the setup here: https://tinyurl.com/WorkHandler. The motherboard has proven to be a great tool as it easily reaches the limits of a 13700 without much effort (although in this case, the K... was preferred). It has many conveniences for fitting even in the smallest cases, but it's difficult to heat up the VRM heatsinks. It has 8+1 phases with 80A PowerStage on an 8-layer PCB. It supports up to DDR5-7600 x 2 (max 64GB) RAM, with one PCI Express 5.0 (x16), 2.5 Gigabit LAN (Intel) and Intel WiFi 6E with Bluetooth 5.3.
Of course, it doesn't allow for overclocking, but it allows you to play with the Power Limits! This means that you can set the temperature limit for the processor so that you don't have to live with the 100 degrees that the 13X00k will reach. By setting the limit to 90 degrees, it decides on its own (and very cleverly, in combination with QVL Certified memory with more than 1 XMP Profile...) how far it will go, depending on your cooling. It's a great convenience if the PC is handled by anyone without knowledge!
You can find all the contents of the motherboard's packaging in the corresponding unboxing video on my profile on Skroutz. For me, it has been characterized as a top solution if you can't afford the cost of the Z790 chipset.
positives
- The best and cheapest motherboard in its category if you're not going to do serious OC.
- Easy cable installation and good clearance.
- Works with highly overclocked RAM.
- Low temperatures in all measurements.
- Many USB ports, etc. at the back, and SATA ports, etc. on the motherboard for such a small size.
edit: I should add that with Asus Aio cooler 280mm (strix LC ii), the pump and fans are fully controlled via BIOS or Armoury crate.
negatives
- I had trouble with the POST, it failed multiple times and I had to plug and unplug everything twice until it started. After the BIOS update, everything is fine.
- It doesn't have the ability to update the BIOS without booting... you would need a rog model... so you should pay attention to CPU and RAM compatibility, etc.
