Unfortunately, if you make the mistake of putting them in a plastic bag for two hours after coming back from the beach, they smell awful and the smell doesn't go away no matter what. They are the most comfortable flip-flops/sandals I have ever worn, even though I was afraid because it is my first attempt to switch from classic Havaianas.   Incredibly comfortable to wear (they don't exist), they don't slip, excellent build quality.
  I don't know about water and drying, etc. that others mention, but personally, I don't take these slippers to the beach, I feel sorry to mistreat them. I have them for outdoor work and generally for better occasions.
