I bought it at a very good price for such features and brand, and connected it with a top HDMI cable, but it is very low in volume and does not have strong and full bass, even with the settings maxed out, which is very disappointing. The surround feeling is mediocre. If I could turn back time, I would not buy it
Bought to connect with LG TV, I tried optical cable, Bluetooth HDMI.. In the end, after many tests, I settled on HDMI (4k or 2.0 cable) with a simple old HDMI you lose a lot in sound.. With Bluetooth, the sound is good but no matter how much you adjust it, there is a slight delay in the sound compared to the speech and I don’t like seeing the mouth of the person speaking not matching the sound.. To not tire you, for music it is very good! To listen to music via Bluetooth, excellent! For movies, very good! But for regular use at low volume, like simple TV programs, news, etc., the sound is worse compared to the TV.. It cannot showcase its qualities at low volume! It needs to be above 25% at least.... If you want movies, music, etc. at a good volume, it’s worth it; if you just want it for a game, etc., at normal volume, the purchase is not worth it, not just for this soundbar but for any! For this money, if you have an LG TV, it’s worth it.. If you don’t have an LG TV, go for something else in my opinion.
First purchase of a soundbar at around €138 and connected to a Samsung Q70A TV in the living room.

Tested connection via HDMI arc, Optical, and Bluetooth (and use of the app for settings).
With HDMI, the sound compared to the TV was the same and lower in volume, although more high-quality and clear. For volume, it didn't show the TV's number and you have to look at the bar, which has 3 levels to calculate. There was a significant delay in response when changing voices directly on the TV, 3 times slower, which was very annoying. You only use the TV remote, but with the soundbar, the speed is normal. The bar automatically turns on and off with the TV.
With Optical, the response was slightly better, but still slow. The sound was similar to the above. There, you can control it with one remote and only the soundbar plays. Otherwise, the sound can come from both devices, so you gain in volume, but you have to control both remotes to have the same level, as they have separate volumes, and if there is a difference, it sounds uneven and echoey. Obviously, it's not practical to hold 2 remotes every time you want to change the volume. The bar automatically turns on and off with the TV.
With Bluetooth, there is a noticeable improvement compared to the above connections, and the sound was superior to the TV. You control it with one remote and the response is the same as the TV. The bar does not automatically turn on and off with the TV, so you have to do it manually, and it also has occasional momentary gaps in sound due to the wireless connection.
In conclusion, the best performance was through Bluetooth, which is not the recommended connection method for stable use.
The source of the sound also plays a role, as I noticed a difference. With regular TV channels, the above applied, in music, the improvement is noticeable because the bass is involved, while in Netflix/Disney+ the sound is significantly louder and better! In a series played through USB, which sounds average with the TV, especially in dialogues, it was much lower, and that's where the difference hit us hard immediately. As I said, this applies with a cable, with BT it was better.
In the end, I decided to return the product and buy a Samsung (Q600B) with more features (channels, speakers, watts, sound standards). We spent about €100 more than planned, but I don't regret it, I will write a relevant review there.
For the S40Q, I conclude that it is a satisfactory soundbar for <€150 and may work optimally with an LG TV, but we did not see the upgrade we expected to keep it.

Very good sound from the soundbar, connected via e-arc with HDMI 2.0 cable. Significant upgrade for someone who wants to improve compared to the TV speakers.
I avoided activating the option on my LG TV, TV sound mode share, in which the TV processes the sound via AI mod. It may cause some connectivity issues.
With only earc mode activated and sound profile options through the LG soundbar app, the soundbar works great.
The first soundbar I bought in my life. So, without being an expert, I wanted to improve my sound and due to my LG television, I chose this specific soundbar. It was placed in a bedroom. The sound is very powerful. Easy installation with an optical fiber cable and the results are amazing. Mainly, I watch movies and sports, so for this use, it is fantastic so far. It also connects very easily via Bluetooth through the LG app and has the ability to control even the woofer. A great purchase at €160 (+ €10 for the optical fiber cable)
There is a problem with my device when I let the AI adjust the sound, as it occasionally loses connectivity or produces crackling in the bass. If I manually select a setting, everything works fine
It was purchased and connected to an LG C1 because the speakers of this otherwise excellent TV are terrible.
Clearly, there are much better soundbars. I chose it mainly to avoid having multiple remotes.
Its use is 98% for movies and 2% for music. It supports all Dolby Audio codecs. It connects instantly via Bluetooth, for those who don't want cables, but it unfolds the full range as a bar in the HDMI connection. In Bluetooth connection, it is simply a 2.1 speaker and nothing more. The sound clarity and Dolby Atmos experience are only apparent in HDMI 2.0 - 2.1 and by enabling the eARC option on the TV.
There, at the necessary volume, you can hear sounds and details that the TV speakers cannot capture.
It is strong in the bass but lacks a bit in the treble. There were times when I had to search for the control to lower it during action scenes so as not to be overwhelmed.
That is its downside. The absence of manual adjustment in the treble, while in more expensive models you can find it. In this particular one, only the woofer can be adjusted as desired. From there on, it has the music/movie/ai sound modes, which are set to optimal settings by default, as stated in the LG manual.
Through the app, when connected to a smartphone, you can adjust everything.
Through Bluetooth, you can connect with mobile phones, tablets, etc. You can put your playlists on Spotify and play them on the soundbar.
160€ for powerful sound. Along with an HDMI cable or at least an optical one, you have a decent sound for your movies without spending a fortune. Approved.

When connected via HDMI ARC, the soundbar experiences disconnections, resulting in the sound returning to the TV speakers for 3-4 seconds. There is no pattern; it may happen once every 3 hours or twice in 15 minutes from the moment you turn it on, and then it may be fine for 3 hours.
After researching, there is no substantial solution to the problem. The problem may be due to a bug in the TV, as it also occurs with other LG soundbars and some Sonos models.
For now, the solution is to connect via optical, which for the past 3 days, I have not experienced any disconnections. We'll see
Very good soundbar. Powerful and with clear sound. I would like a little stronger bass in the low frequencies, but when playing music it is the best. Update: The bass intensity is adjusted through the soundbar's application and ultimately, comparing it to a JBL soundbar, I consider it superior.
