UPDATE 22/1/25:
Anyone interested in this monitor can also find it on skoop. I'm selling it for 499 (https://www.skroutz.gr/skoop/k9d3oSBRzc/dell-alienware-aw2723df-ips-hdr-gaming-monitor-27-qhd-2560x1440-280hz-me-chrono-apokrisis-1ms-gtg). Thank you.
Original:
Incredible monitor. I've been a user of all panel types (TN, VA, IPS). It's the best in any aspect one can imagine except for reflection handling. In my case, my PC has RGB lighting, which I ultimately turned off to prevent the light from falling on the screen as it bothers me which is why I deduct 1 star. That's the only area where the monitor struggles however If someone mentions artifacting it's likely a manufacturing error. On the other hand, a VA wouldn't have this issue due to the different technology. Also, I don't care about HDR but when I did try it I didn't like it at all. The standard colors are amazing anyway so why bother? The build quality is excellent. The 280hz overclock option runs nice and smooth (and a little hot) but I leave it at 240 because the gpu doesn't reach 280fps anyway
Coming from a very good TN monitor from AOC that I was very satisfied with, I have to say that this monitor is very good and I don't think I would ever go back to a TN/VA panel. Also, I didn't want to go for OLED due to the burn-in since I use the screen quite a bit. Amazing colors, amazing refresh rate and response time. Very good build quality. It doesn't need calibration as it comes ready from the factory; however, there is a video on YouTube where tweaking 2 settings from the graphics card control panel makes the image quality a bit better (mainly in colors). I had no issues with the menu (very easy to use) nor with backlight bleed, etc. Certainly, in absolute black in the corners, you will see a more intense light, but in no way is this backlight bleed. Personally, I haven't seen it and it hasn't bothered me in any game. As for negatives - if I had to say something - it's that I would like the black to be more intense (but okay, it's IPS and not OLED), which is still quite satisfactory and of course the price.
The screen is excellent, at a not so excellent price. Initially, it is not value for money, with small differences compared to one like the LG 27gp850p-b. If someone excludes the price, it may be one of the best IPS on the market.
Positives:
- Nano IPS with incredibly accurate colors
- up to 280 Hz frequency
- good viewing angles
- Good contrast for IPS (compared to VA)
- Unmatched build quality and Dell warranty
- Connectivity and ports
- Easily adjustable in all directions
Negatives:
- Although better blacks than other IPS, somewhat worse than VA
- On a black background, the so-called IPS glow is noticeable. White/hazy spots are visible in the corners. It can be corrected by not using it in a completely dark room, just open some lamps (not behind you)
- Price (Purchased for 600)
- The HDR mode is fake HDR and not worth having it on (https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/dell/alienware-aw2723df)
Calibration was not necessary, but from what I researched, it may slightly improve the whites. Personally, I didn't want OLED because of the burn-in they experience after continuous use (I want it for gaming), and VA panels have worse colors and backlight bleed. If you have the opportunity, it is the ideal choice.
Awesome monitor. It's worth every penny until the last euro. There is nothing that it doesn't have. I got it for 400 euros with tax deduction from Dell Slovakia. Regular warranty and everything. I highly recommend it.
What can I say about this assault rifle of images and colors, there are truly no words to describe this amazing screen. It was purchased on sale for €599 and the experience it offers is far better than expected. You won't believe the level of responsiveness and image quality on this screen. The menu is perfect, the stand is flawless, and overall, the mobility is great (forget about wall mounts and brackets, etc.). This amazing screen is worth every penny and more, although it is a bit pricey. But my friend, those 280 hertz will blow your mind and you won't want to take your eyes off of it. You definitely have to pay for it. It is exclusively for hardcore competitive gaming (obviously with the appropriate hardware on your PC to fully take advantage of it). Now my friend, if you have a console and are eyeing it, I would suggest going for something more economical because simply put, the console won't be able to fully utilize even half of its capabilities for obvious reasons! I bought it, enjoyed it, and will continue to use it for many years to come. Also, another thing that hurts when you spend so much money and want to be covered for anything that happens is its reliability and warranty. We have nothing to say about that, Dell's warranty in Greece is well-known and highly recommended wherever you look. So, whatever happens, they are there for you because they are professionals and they carry a reputable name to avoid any tricks. As for the build quality, let me tell you one thing, you won't get tired of looking at it and caressing it. Get it blindly yesterday!
Flawless screen (ideal for MAC MINI, very close to the characteristics of the Apple Studio Display & Gaming PC) at an incredible price for its technical specifications. It is the next version of the AW2721D, and they have improved the following:
1. The stand is thinner/more elegant and has a much better cable arrangement at the back, literally hiding them.
2. The backlighting is different, more discreet and targeted, with the wonderful 27 logo.
3. They have added a left headphone stand that fits inside the monitor when not in use.
4. The ports are the same both at the back and front, with the difference that the front ones have been slightly moved to the left, which is more practical.
5. They have removed the menu buttons, and all the settings are done with just one button, which somehow works better and is very user-friendly.
6. They have added very important functions to the menu:
- Sharpness Functions (very important)
- HDR Modes (600/Game/Desktop). If you leave it permanently on HDR600, it is simply magical in games that support it (e.g., The Division 2/Pro Evolution Soccer, etc.). For computer use, permanently set HDR to OFF.
- Console Mode On/Off
- Overclocking (the screen can reach up to 280Hz)
6. Very bright screen, easily reaching 600 nits, in the same category as the Apple Studio Display.
One note, if I'm not mistaken, it is G Sync Compatible (not G Sync Ultimate), but I don't see any difference with RTX 3070 compared to the aw2721d visually, and they have greatly improved ghosting (in extreme FPS mode) in many games, where they have eliminated it compared to its predecessor.
It is Freesync Premium Pro.
Finally, I want to inform you that DELL is an amazing company! After 2 years of using the AW2721D, I noticed a thin line on the screen (which other users have also mentioned in forums), and within 5 days, they brought me the new AW2723DF to my house and took the old one back (with impeccable customer service, very rare for Greek standards. I had the impression that I was in the United States, and they were speaking perfect Greek with absolute politeness and professionalism)
